We dropped Towson.... why i can't say. It's not like picking up WVWC helps our playoff chances. All it does is give us another home game, which, big deal if it is WVWC.
I agree, this schedule stinks to high heaven.
Can we blame this one on Blank?

The OOC schedule is a little light this year, but I think we need it for a few reasons...
1. It gives us some wins and some confidence. 2. It gives us a little momentum going into our killer conference schedule.
To me, we can either complain about the schedule for a while or we can embrace it and hope for the best.
Oh, and EFF, the day we get OSU to come to Rhodes will be a VEERRRYYY LLOONNGG time from now...

I agree EPH. With the first game a very likely loss, I don't see anything wrong with scheduling a very likely win. After a coupling winning seasons, strength of schedule can become a priority.

Beginning next year through 2009, we are NOT PLAYING any D-I teams. The ONLY reason why we are this year is because something happened with Towson. And it may not have been us....it may have been them. I know Lembo would want to play Towson and he's high on them. This may not have been his decision, but Towson's.
Stony Brook is Big South soon. Weird way to end the year, but oh well. Presby will be D-I by the next time we play them.

schedule? my goodness, 1- We have a consistently brutal conference schedule always. priority, do well there and things will take of themselves. 2- Finally a BCS money game. South Florida is not UF but it gets us on a Big East school's schedule. 3- OOC , so We have D-2 school on schedule, We always do. So? We have a Big South school, Liberty and an Eastern school Stoneybrook.
MEAC school's We are losing our welcome with them. And We don't have to play all over the country,The Western Ky's, Delaware's and Youngstown's until We solidify our program. 2008 if it holds form will be quite formidable.

It would be a very foolish mistake to under estimate Stony Brook. They are better then last year when they were a tough team whos only 2 games they didnt have a shot in were against FCS powerhouses Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
With the move to the Big South on the horizon Stony Brook will only become better.

OTA, I think we are playing at least one D-1 Team for the next several years. I think the teams we've agreed to are Wake, Duke and Richmond - one per year. That was the latest I heard (Last fall). Do you have updated info?

How do you ever expect to get respect when our own fans don't even do this right.
For the record, Elon is D-I. Wake is D-I. Duke is D-I. We're all D-I.
Richmond is FCS like us, so is William and Mary who is on the horizon for us. USF, Wake, Duke and so on are FBS and still D-I.
And OTA, are you sure you're right. We're supposed to have USF this year, Wake next year, Duke the year after and Georgia Tech 1-2 years after that. There was a TN article that announced 5 FBS along with Richmond and William & Mary all at once.

At this stage in our program, I believe any complaints about who we play are premature. I've never heard of the team in WVA, but I'm sure they have not heard of us, either. I do agree wtih the poster who said there is a danger in playing teams who are presumed to be lower level teams...but doesn't that really only count if you are accruing points for playoffs/bowl eligibility? And how do you think the Wake, GA Tech, etc. fans feel about playing us? It's a two-way street. I have no clue who does the scheduling..whether it's the AD alone or a joint effort between AD and coach...or if President is involved or whoever else. Regardless, I don't think our program is yet at the level where we can snub any opponent. Let's get some wins and our players some confidence first.

At this stage in our program, I believe any complaints about who we play are premature. . Premature? What do you mean? I remember our first year in I-AA (my junior year)......we were snubbed from the playoffs in what the NCAA rated as I-AA's toughest sked. The same was said about the sked in the '00 season when we went 7-4!!! So when you start out strong like we did back in '99 and you see the teams we're playing now, it's disheartening to say the least. These complaints about it aren't premature, if anything, it's overdue!

Remember it takes a few years in advance to schedule the good teams, so we cant blame this on Blank. This schedule is either the fault of teams that pulled out, ie A&T, Townson?? or White. I doubt its white, he would not leave us in a bind.

Why are we worrying about the playoffs? We pretty much have to win the SoCon to get in...

Unfortunately, this isn't 1999, we haven't had a record of 9-2 or 7-4 since that time. Due to a lot of circumstances we are still in a rebuilding mode. I think our schedule looks well balanced for our team at this point in time. If we traded WVWC and Stony Brook for Wake And GA Tech, for example, we'd be complaining about our win-loss record and about having only 4 home games. I think our schedule is good. We get a decent money game at USF. Liberty and Stony Brook will not be pushovers. We have a tune-up game with WVWC and a very strong conference schedule. In 2-3 years when we are at the top of our conference a schedule like this one may questionable.
