RPI will help but with the SoCon having a down year and our lack of multiple Big Name wins could hurt us. If we get in as an At large we may get shipped of instead of playing close to home as we have in the past.

Agreed, with the down SoCon and lack of big name wins that have been there in past years.
We are basically relying on having a low RPI, which is something that I think the selection commitee appears to use an awful lot because they dont actually watch as many games and have as much info as they do for basketball. I would like to think if we could manage a top 2 finish in the SoCon and keep an RPI in the 30's we would be ok.
A bounce back win against Wake would be nice to get the mid-week split. I dont think Wake is that good and they are obviously sub .500, but they somehow have a decent RPI, so it's not a horrible loss.

Wake has taken 2-of-3 from UNC, taken one each from Clemson, NC State, Georgia Tech and Florida State.

They definitely play in a very tough conference and thats a big part of the reason for their losing record, they are also only 10-11 in out of conference games so far as well. They are clearly at least a decent team to pick up those wins, but they also have plenty more opportunities to do so when they play in the ACC. We might have fared better against the high profile teams with our weekend pitching as well.

Wake is sitting in a tie for 8th in the ACC right now and would miss out on the league tourney b/c of the tie-breaker. They have the three worst teams in the ACC left to play.

Topher - are you saying thats good or bad? I cant tell... haha
Either way, in my opinion they are no better than a decent team. Getting the split tonight was big. Try to take 2 out of 3 from Davidson over the weekend. GSU is at UNCG - so lets go Spartans.

Just to share something I have found...
There are multiple sites out there that do projections for the regionals. All of them have their difference. All the latest ones I have seen project us a 3 seed but all in different locations - Chapel Hill (UNC), Charlottesville (UVa), Columbia (USC) and Atlanta (GaTech).

I'm saying there's a real good chance they'll finish in the top 8 and make the ACC tournament for the first time in a long time.

Ok, i gotcha - they are certainly more competitive than they have been in the past, I can agree with that.
