The guy from Baseball America has us out. Good RPI, but overall down year for conference and our poor record vs top 25 and top 100.
That being said, the last time a SoCon team won the regular season but didn't get into the tourney was back in 2002.

The selections are released tomorrow at 12:30 Eastern. There is actually a 30 minute time slot on ESPN for it.
Belmont also won the A-Sun and Mizzou has a chance to win the Big12.

If I'm not mistaken, we're tied for 9th in the nation for most road wins.

And we miss the field. Amazing that we went from a projected 2 seed before the tournament to not making it all together

Saw this on Twitter
@aaronfitt: Weiser: "Elon was as close as any team could be and not get in, we had debate about that even this morning." Top 25/100 records killed them.

Given that the team didn't do anything to help their cause this week I had sort of prepared myself for them not getting in. However, St. John's gets in over Elon? Really? They have a lower RPI a worse record against the top 50 and top 100. Oh, and it just so happens their AD is on the committee. Sure they went to their conference championship game and lost to Seton Hall, but when you look at the whole picture more deserving teams were passed over.
Anyhow, good luck to GSU and maybe Elon can get back there next year.
Go Phoenix!

Good luck to GSU. After the past few seasons, I really thought the conference had taken a step forward. It was a down year for the conference and for our program, but they still won a SoCon championship.
Good luck to GSU!!! Represent the conference well!

Was disappointed to not see them get the bid, but kind of played themselves out of it in the tourney by dropping two really tough games and seeing the RPI fall off a bunch. St Johns was really the disappointing team to see in ahead of us... especially with the reasoning that they finished second in the Big East. Congrats, but Elon WON the SoCon, which had a similar rating conference wise. Really feel like if there had been a signature win over UNC, Clemson or ECU it would have helped out a LOT.
Still a great season with a regular season title and hope to do the same next year as well.

How you finish has a big part in who is selected. We just crashed at the end and that really hurt us. Its a shame we didn't get in, but in all honesty we would of probably gone 0-2 or 1-2, based off our showing in games verse the top 50 and 100

I kept saying that we needed to find a way to win that first game and there were a few opportunities throughout those 20 innings... that kind of set things up for a tough second game that was must win. A LOT tougher for the guys on the team to not get selected than it is for me - must suck to have a darn good year and no recognition from NCAA for it.

It is funny to think that we (or I) think it was a "down year" and still win a SoCon title. Good luck to the seniors and the select few underclassmen in the MLB draft!

In the oast few years we have had 2 or 3 down years, yet we still win the title or make it to the NCAA's. I will take any team that has a 30+ season and we can call it a down year.

I thought the team played well but I felt that their style of play/design was not suited to do well in tourney ball. I think the style of play is changing with the new bats. To all those that thought that everything was going to go small ball.... How did that work out? Can you say V Roache? I think the new style of play/bats favors teams like GSU and UNCG. I feel that in general the style of play in the SoCon is not conducive to doing well in tournament ball against teams with pitching (with the exception of these 2 teams). I do feel that GSU has the best chance of doing something in Tourney ball. That being said.... USC in the first round will make me sound stupid. Talk about a tough draw. My best wishes to the guys that played their hearts out to win the SoCon and fall short of a NCAA bid.

I thought this team was very sound and I enjoyed my time watching them. My only question is, what effect would Scott Riddle had on this team? Would he have helped them or not? Just curious. How about thoughts on this from all those who see them more than I do.
