Wow 85-7, Last time i saw a blowout that big I had to change pants Dude, that seriously made me laugh out loud. I hope that didn't happen in Rhodes Stadium.....that would've been pretty embarrassing. ;D

One of those mediocre DII teams we beat just dropped 63 on somebody.

While it is true that we haven't exactly made a strong case for ourselves in the first three games, I find it hard to have anyone writing us off as a weak opponent. Frankly before the season I think most of us considered you guys a game we should win based on your losses of Nkang & Pope. But Riddle has certainly proven he's a player and our QB has been spotty.
And for the record, the W&M passing game is excellent no matter who they are playing this fall. Jake Phillips is going to be up for some national recognition if he keep his incredible start up the rest of the way through CAA play.

(The following is from an LU fan)
Do I think we have a better team?
Not really.
Do I think LU can win?
Heck yea.
Our DB's HAVE GOT to figure out how to play some ball, but other than that, I think this will be a good matchup.
USF has a somewhat similar team to ours in terms of style (now, before you go saying that I am some dumb homer liberty fan who thinks too much of his team, think about how i phrased it... in terms of style)
USF has a ball control mentality, they don't COMPLETELY trust their QB (although he has come a long way). I have a buddy at USF who willingly admits that they SUCKED against you guys, but that you played well (Keep in mind that they are the #23 team in the BCS, so they definitely underperformed against you guys). They dink and dunk and run, their QB averages like 6 yards per.
That is the sort of offense we run. Multiple backs, dink and dunk passes, ball control, nothing crazy. Are we as good as USF? No way. Can we do what USF did to you? For sure.
Like I said, I think you are a better team.
But I predict an LU win, needless to say.
31-21 LU

They seem to be pretty confident, 1 word undefeated at rhodes aginst LU, and that was back in the segraves era. Now I dont know when that was, nor do I plan to do homework, but I dont think anytime in the last number of years was a good year for LU, so not sure how that says a bunch Now if youre William and Mary and say hey LU lost to us 56 - 0 two years ago at Zable, that has more well meaning I guess (although we are a completly different team now) With that said LU has alot to prove in this game. None of us are really sure what team youre going to see. Either youll get Brock Smith having a good game and we just outplay you, or youl get the flat team that cant move the ball in the air and looks like Swiss cheese on D. Either way theres a guy with redd arms and HES SCARY. With that said we can beat everyone on our schedule(not saying much with DII's and DI pointshaver), but we have to actually win games as opposed to what we did last night. We have an issue with learning how to win games, thats how its been for the last 2 years.

And if my aunt had a package, she'd be my uncle.
Seriously, what does running a similar offense have to with this when the level of talent between USF and Liberty drops off exponentially? Elon used to run the wishbone the same time Nebraska was playing for national championships running the same offense. That didn't stop us from losing games to crappy teams.
Now, my point is not that Liberty is a crappy team. I believe you guys are pretty good. I also believe that Elon is a better team, playing at home. Hell, the fact that Elon has seen a similar offense and will see it in a lesser version can only help the home team to gameplan and prepare. My only fear is that the players, like many fans here (understandably), may start to look ahead a week. I don't believe Lembo will let that be the case. Good luck to the Flames this week, but I think we send em home with a loss.

Whatever you say, boss.
It is possible that you guys will figure out how to stop the offense and shut us down.
I'm just saying that, looking at what we know so far, we are the kind of team who can move the ball down the field against your defense. You don't need a ton of talent to make a system work. Examples: Hawaii, Texas Tech, Louisiana Tech. They just go out and operate their gameplan, and sometimes they can beat someone who blatantly out-talents them.
I've said it before, and shall say it again. You guys have a better team. I just think we match up well, and I get this feeling we are gonna be fired up and ready to go.

and apparently, your boys have issues with grabbing faces, holding jerseys, pass interference, and all other forms of cheating? that won't help you that much. and I am also sure that this silly little Big South school is nothing but a "one last tune-up" before Appy. We don't mind that mentality.

Yeah, we have to knock off the stupid personal fouls and late penalties. I am sure Lembo read em the riot act after the WVW film review. Perhaps you guys will move the ball on us. We shall see. Moving the ball and punching it in for a score are different things though too. I wouldn't expect a fan of an opponent who posts on our messageboard to come on here and tell us why his team sucks. Obviously you believe in your boys. I believe in ours. It'll be fun just to see em go at it on Saturday. Good luck this weekend.

Yeah those stupid penalties killed us in the 1st half against WVWU, but looked what happened when Lembo fixed those mistakes!
Our team is very young, and I think LU will be surprised with our size (as were USF fans). Elon fans really don't have a true measuring stick for how to rate the team. We've played up a division and down a division, and have seen big success with both.
Liberty's a good team, but the defense is a little suspect. Their RB will give us some trouble and may open a passing attack.

I think you'll be more surprised with our size than we will with yours. Not smack, we're just really big.

You guys sound a lot like we did this time last year when we were able to hang with the ACC Champs without getting killed. It really tough to see how good you are until you measure up against similar competition. We did that Saturday and some of our weaknesses were exposed against a VERY good passing offense.
We are looking to see just how good we are just as much as you guys are this Saturday at Rhodes.

Other than what I've read in the FCS media I don't know much about Liberty from an insider's standpoint. I have heard through the grapevine that size wise Liberty is BIG. If the game was based on overall tonnage Liberty should win. I would probably give the experience nod to Liberty as well. However, from a skill player and coaching standpoint, Elon wins. I think this will be an enjoyable game to watch. Hardfought. I feel that Elon will edge Lu, 34-27.

I'm sorry, but Liberty has one of the best coaching staffs in FCS football. Our head coach was the assistant head coach at UVA, our offensive coordinator left Rice to come here. We have coaches from Wisconsin, UVA, Clemson, etc. Our staff is awesome.
