The Flames Club is setting up on the Firehouse Fields on Saturday, so I'm wanting to tailgate over towards that area, just to be around other Liberty fans. Where exactly are the Firehouse Fields? If you could, point it out on this map. www.elon.edu/images/e-web/athletics/footballpark.jpg

It's the light blue section on the bottom left of the map. They have a little shuttle that runs between there and the stadium. You could walk it too, but it's a bit of a hike for some. Maybe 15-20 minutes.
Go Phoenix!

How crowded is the purple parking spots? I'll gladly pay $3 to tailgate there if there's some grass, etc.

You could tailgate amongst the Elon folks in the pink $5 parking lot. If you are getting there early enough to tailgate you shouldn't have any problem with any of the parking lots. The pink lot is within sight of the stadium.
As far as firehouse field it seems to be where Elon sets all visitor tailgates up. I doubt Liberty chose that spot. I would imagine the grass and all is a little more condusive to tossing a football around. It's not too bad, just a bit removed from everything.
Go Phoenix!

If you're going to the firehouse fields, its across from the firehouse. Big area to throw a football or frisbee, but for me, I prefer the Greek courts. However, the last couple of times I've been to an Elon game, nobody tailgates there anymore

BTW, SJ, We Elon folks are generally a friendly bunch so don't be afraid to mosey on over and tailgate with us. There won't be any a$$holes taunting you. The Phanatics had a big setup in the yellow lot last year. There'll be plenty of tents and party goers in the pink & green lots as well.

We're either going purple or pink lot.

From what I have been told, the Phanatics have moved in with the Phoenix Club in the Harper lot (I'm guessing that's pink). I was told they had about 200 students at WVWU game.

BTW, whats the deal with tailgating anyway? Can you drink if you are over 21 in any lot, or are there certain ones now or something? Anyone have the info on this? I have been in RI for the last 5 years and haven't gotten to go to a game at Rhodes yet. Think App. St will be my first since I attended. Can't wait, but want to know where I can pregame before hand.
Cheers

Officially, I think the rule is simply no drinking of alcoholic beverages on campus. However, from experience, this rule is loosely enforced. I heard that a crackdown of some magnitude may take place due to a drunken display that was observed by Leo at the UNC home baseball game. Again, by observation, most folks that have beer or coctails pour it in a plastic cup & it is thence ignored as long as the individual(s) behave themselves.

No alcoholic beverages on campus? Has that changed since 2000? I was 21 and lived in Sloan my junior year and was allowed to drink in my room!!!!!
I thought the rule for tailgating was it had to be in a cup! At least that's what I was told by campus sercurity 2 years ago!

The campus is not dry. There's just been a big crackdown on underage drinking or any illegal drinking activity. That's a school-wide thing, not just athletics.
