Down on the Farm: A Look at Former Elon Players in the Minor Leagues

ELON, N.C. -- The Elon Phoenix baseball program has been churning out professional players over the past few seasons. There are currently 13 players in Major League Baseball organizations. We will check in on how these players are performing periodically throughout the summer.
ZACH BOOKER - C (AAA Norfolk Tides - Baltimore Orioles)
Booker is once again on the roster of the Norfolk Tides, but has been on the disabled list all season.
JOHN BREBBIA - RHP (A Charleston RiverDogs - New York Yankees)
Brebbia has appeared in nine games for the Charleston RiverDogs of the South Atlantic League. The reliever has a 1-0 record and a 4.74 ERA over 19.0 innings pitched. He has recorded one save and is holding opponents to a .239 batting average. Brebbia has struck out 22 hitters and walked just nine.
MITCH CONNER - RHP (Extended Spring Training - Milwaukee Brewers)
Conner pitched in both rookie ball and the A+ Florida State League last season, but has been injured and is recovering at the Brewers' extended spring training site in Arizona.
KEN FERRER - RHP (Extended Spring Training - Washington Nationals)
Ferrer has not been assigned to a team for the 2012 season at this time.
THOMAS GIRDWOOD - RHP (Extended Spring Training - Oakland A's)
Girdwood has been injured and has not been assigned to a team for the 2012 season.
CORY HARRILCHAK - OF (AA Mississippi Braves - Atlanta Braves)
Harrilchak began the season with the AAA Gwinnett Braves before settling in with the AA affiliate. In a combined 51 games, the left-handed hitter is batting .184 with 10 doubles and 18 RBI. He has been successful on eight of his nine stolen base attempts this season.
STEVEN HENSLEY - RHP (AAA Tacoma Rainers - Seattle Mariners)
Hensley, who has battled injuries the past few seasons, recently earned a promotion to AAA from the AA Jackson Generals. The reliever has appeared in 20 games between his two stops, going 2-2 with two saves and a 2.97 ERA. He has recorded 39 strikeouts in 36.1 innings pitched while issuing 20 walks. Hensley has held opponents to a .175 batting average.
MATT MCSWAIN - RHP (AA Altoona Curve - Pittsburgh Pirates)
McSwain has appeared both as a starter and reliever for the Curve this season as four of his 15 appearances have been starts. His record currently sits at 2-2 and he has a 4.61 ERA. McSwain has struck out 28 and walked 19 in 41.0 innings of work this season.
NEAL PRITCHARD - INF (A Quad Cities River Bandits - St. Louis Cardinals)
Pritchard has bounced around the Cardinals organization this year and has appeared in games with both the River Bandits and the rookie league Palm Beach Cardinals. Combined, he has played in 20 games and is hitting .172 with two doubles and three RBI.
J.D. REICHENBACH - LHP (A+ Carolina Mudcats - Cleveland Indians)
Reichenbach has made 21 appearances out of the bullpen for the Mudcats in 2012. He has posted a 2-1 record and sports a 4.86 ERA. The lefty has struck out 25 and walked 17 in 33.1 innings this season.
JIMMY REYES - LHP (A+ Myrtle Beach Pelicans - Texas Rangers)
Reyes has come out of the bullpen in all 20 of his appearances this season. In 29.0 innings Reyes has walked only seven hitters and fanned 23. He has an 0-1 record, three saves and a 3.10 ERA. Earlier this season he was part of the first no-hitter in team history as he came on to record the final five outs in a win over the Wilmington Blue Rocks.
JIM STOKES - RHP (Short-Season A Mahoning Valley Scrappers - Cleveland Indians)
Stokes, a 2012 draft pick, has been assigned to the Mahoning Valley Scrappers of the New York-Penn League. He has not yet appeared in a game.
DALLAS TARLETON - C (A Modesto Nuts - Colorado Rockies)
Tarleton has appeared for both the Nuts and the AAA Colorado Springs Sky Sox this year. In a combined 27 games Tarleton has hit .360 with 19 runs scored, eight doubles, one triple, three home runs and 21 RBI. Over his last four games he has gone 9-for-18 with two doubles, two homers and five RBI.
