Great showing by the Phoenix. Lucas didn't back down an inch. Sebastian had ice water in his veins on the 3's. I'm very proud of the team.

the team played well, it is jsut really hard to play against Duke's explosiveness. And Duke made what, 7 3s in a row despite good defense.

The biggest difference between Duke and us is the speed at which they play. It's not that they run the court faster, they just seem quicker at defense constantly reaching in trying to get steals. Also, once the ball gets down the court, they don't dribble a lot. It's like pass, pass, pass, shoot, rebound tip back to the basket. Also, when they are open they don't hesitate. They immediately put the ball up. Several of our players have the ability to play at that speed. Once Lucas caught on he really made a couple of their defenders look amateurish, including Plumblee one time. Sebastian also shot several times before their D could catch up. I hope the team will take good lessons from that and play at that higher speed for the rest of the year. If they do this season could be very special.

Great effort by the team last night. Just a couple observations:
We missed a ton of good looks at the hoop. Way to many missed layups and short jumpers. The guys must be kicking themselves.
With a few more made shots it would have been very interesting.
We are painfully short on athleticism. Outside of Hamilton we lack players who can create off the dribble.
Our second wave of players need to gain confidence and shoot the ball. Very timid at points.
The refs were garbage at moments in the game.
Overall, very proud of the team and staff. We should build on this and hopefully make a run in the conference.
I also thought the announcers appreciated our team. They managed to compliment us in between foaming at the mouth over Jabari Parker.

Agree with much was posted above; Dukies standing around me were quite complimentary. That lasted second 3 to end the first half hurt...big difference between possibly scoring to cut the lead to 2-3 and Duke banking in a shot to go up by 8 at half.
Elon played well, but in the second half at times, especially while duke was nailing the 3s, that the boys became timid and didn't want to make a mistake. They played tight during that stretch.
Still, there's talent there, hustle, intensity, all good. They could be a top 2-3 in the SoCon this year and, fingers crossed, finally knock Davidson of its high-horse.
Coach has this team going in a great direction. Really proud of them.
