Anyone notice that an 11-21 Chicago State, and last place team in the GWC, made it in the field?

The Great West conference tourney winner gets an AQ to the CIT. I'm pretty sure they wouldn't be in otherwise.
Go Phoenix!

Interesting, tourney follows old NIT format, with games decided on how the previous games went, no bracket. My guess is we will not see a home game unless we are forced to have one. The cost is 35,000, and if we charged 15 and got 1,000 paid admission we would loose 20,000 for one game.

That explains it - I kept trying to find "the brackets"...saw the full field of teams but nothing to show who plays who after first round. Seems to be a pretty diverse field. Hopefully some of our NY alums will be able to make it to the Canesius game.

I was looking into Canisius a little and the article on their website says the game is "presented by The Buffalo News". Their court only holds a little more than 2000 so it isn't like they will be filling a big arena to make the 35k back. I wonder if the newspaper is helping subsidize the cost of that. They are certainly in a bigger market than us though they are a similar size school.

Only partially true. We are part of the Greensboro CSA, which is 1.7 million and sandwiched on the other side is Raleigh at 1.7 million (Alamance is Greensboro, Orange is Raleigh)
The greater Buffalo CSA is only 1.1 million, but next to the Toronto Metro. The difference is, we have 4 NCAA tourney teams in the two markets plus High Point also making the CIT.

Yeah, I get what you are saying as far as being sandwiched between some bigger markets, but those markets have their own teams that they are concerned with. I don't feel we are really a part of the Triangle market when they have UNC, Duke and State all in the NCAA and really even if they weren't (which would be an anomoly) they probably wouldn't be covering Elon anyways. We are closer to being a part of the Triad market, but even they have A&T to cover in the tourney this year. If you stick to the Burlington market it is much smaller than Buffalo.
As well in reference to tourney teams taking away coverage, Albany is right next to Buffalo with a team in the tourney as well. I guess I just found it interesting that their game is sponsored by a media outlet and I don't see that being a possibility for Elon.
