Athletic Director Jeff Moore Takes New Position
Former Athletic Director, Jeff Moore
In 2003, CVCC’s current athletic program was started, with Jeff Moore as men’s basketball coach and athletic director. Moore coached for six basketball seasons (2003-2009), winning four region titles and being named Region Coach of the Year three times. With Moore as athletic director, the athletic department at CVCC has grown to be a respected powerhouse regionally and nationally. The 2012-2013 seasons saw three of CVCC’s four teams win conference, two undefeated in conference play.
Moore will now direct CVCC’s new “Health and Fitness Science” degree program, to be introduced in Fall 2013. The HFS program will allow students to not only earn an AAS degree, but also a diploma and American College of Sports Medicine certification for qualification as Certified Personal Trainers. To concentrate efforts toward the success of this new program, Moore will vacate the athletic director position to become the Director of Health and Physical Education at CVCC.
Nick Schroeder, CVCC Assistant Athletic Director, will now be the new Athletic Director. Before coming to CVCC in Fall 2012, he served for three years as the Director of Compliance at Longwood University, an NCAA DI institution in Farmville, VA. Prior to this, Nick worked in the NCAA Compliance Departments of UNC Charlotte and the University of Louisville. Nick holds a BS in Exercise Sports Science from Elon University and a MS in Sports Administration from the University of Louisville.
