Would be nice to take home the regional championship like last year with the Maui on the mainland "The field is set for the 2013 NIT Season Tip-Off! Elon Men's Basketball opens against eighth-seeded Drexel on Nov. 18 at 5 p.m. at Rutgers. The North Region of the NIT Season Tip-Off includes: #4 Rutgers, #6 Elon, #8 Drexel and Canisius." elonphoenix.com/news/2013/9/17/MBB_0917132908.aspx

The big difference in this and the Maui Invitational is that the mainland part of the Maui Tourney is not really connected to the island part - meaning there was no where to go beyond winning the regional. In the Preseason NIT winning 2 games up at Rutgers would give the team a chance to play in Madison Square Garden, which is a pretty big deal.
I don't know much about those teams in our bracket with regards to how they would look for the coming season, but Rutgers and Drexel were both below .500 last year and Canisius is the team that Elon lost to in the postseason tournament we were in last year.

Right and right. It would be a big deal. I was not attempting to downplay the significance of progressing past the regional. . I did find it interesting that Elon was seeded #6, seeing they did lose to Canisius in the post season last year.

Not a bad field. Certainly not easy, but looking at the other brackets Elon certainly got the easier of the top seeds to get by. Duke, Alabama and Arizona are all much tougher than Rutgers. Canisius and Drexel are picked top 3 in their conferences though, so they may be even more of a challenge than Rutgers.
Go Phoenix!
