So we all know about the offense's lack of scoring in the second half of the last 5 games. But what is the real problem? We have one of the best, and smartest, QBs that has played at Elon. He broke the record over the weekend for pass attempts without an INT. He plays smart, and excels on the rollout. He's thrown for over 2000 yards, has accounted for 15 TDs and only has 4 INTs. The WR core is pretty solid, with some excellent go to talent from the backfield to the slot.
Is the problem that the coaches are keeping the playbook too conservative, with Swepson wanting to be the team that "runs the ball"? He keeps saying he wants to PROVE that, but it's obvious they need to develop it before using it in big time game situations, like at Wofford for instance.
IMO, it looks like they simply need to open up that passing game, and be what Elon football has been for the past 7 years. You have the talent, you have the speed and you have a QB with a great arm who makes some solid decisions.....and rarely turns over the ball.
I'm am certain that if we brought in a new head coach, one with actual experience as an HC or AHC, he could take the talent we have on this team, and turn them into a .500 or better ball club next year. We have some great student athletes, and judging by their comments in the paper, are equally as dissatisfied with the leadership, just like all of us.

I could not agree more. There is some talent on this team. We have a QB is as good as there is in this league and a nice blend of skill players and o-line talent. I always want to see a coaching staff succeed, so I am not here to bash these guys but something is not right in Elon Football Land.
1. Elon is a good academic school, beautiful campus and top notch football facilities. The reality is that they should never fall below 500 in this league or any other league in FCS. I say this because when Seagraves, Hamilton and when Lembo started- the funding for football was not up to par. Lembo's staff had some talented kids but for most of his tenure they had below avg facilities, a really tight recruiting budget, and couldn't even afford to put the Elon emblem on football warmups. Yet- he and his staff were able to put together competitive teams and they were very rarely outcoached. They were far from perfect, but considering what type of budget and resources they had... they did a heck of a job.
2. With new facilities, some more money flowing into the program, better dorms etc. This staff/team should not be at the bottom of the league. Especially this year, where there is a lot of parody. 2nd half adjusttments have been terrible and Swepson's quotes in paper have been perplexing. They threw the ball 54 times at Wofford and he says he wanted the offense to be a smash mouth run team and that is why he went 4 straight runs at the 5..... I don't get it- atleast throw 1 ball in the endzone. I wonder what Ruggiero or Skrosky would have called in that situation... hmmm
3. I honestly think Swepson and Pincince don't trust Quinn. Quinn was a Lembo recruit- had a great relationship with Skrosky ( Fellow Jersey guy) and had to do everything right to get the starting job and I honestly still think he his fighting for the starting job every week- and to his credit he has been a bright spot on this team. kudos to him for fighting through this. That is my only explanation for the conservative play calling and the "sit on a lead" mentality that has been common place for Elon.
4. One bright spot for the coaching staff- these kids have not quit on them. They keep fighting every week. Last 3 games will determine Swepson's fate...Even if the kids don't agree with him or the staff they are still working hard and you gotta like there resolve. I believe if Blank goes and gets a quality HC in off-season this team will be atleast 500... I am not saying this team is world- beaters but they have talent and should be 500 or better .

I agree with almost everything posted above.
Like it or not, we are headed for a 2-10 season. I will be shocked if we win against the Citadel. If we go 2-10...a change has to be made. This wa not a rebuilding job. This was a program that had been ranked for the better part of three straight years. Normally, I say give a coach four/five years. However, this staff did not inherit a broken program.
Making a move now, shows the kids, students and alumns that the school is serious about having a winner. We have everything we need to be successful. It kills me to see what has happened to this program.
