Is there much to talk about here?

Found this on the El Cid board. I have never seen or heard of what is described happening. The last point looks like the biggest fiction ever written about any goings on the Elon campus. Bad thing is, people believe it.
"Then let's all recall the whining and complaining of their fans every time they came to Charleston. Usually AGS was full of them after the game- complaining about everything from the way the Corps cheered to the parking, to the SoCon refs, you name it. And dont even get me started with games at Elon- packs of feral 19 years olds roaming behind the visitor stands trying to pick fights and taunting."

Not sure that I've ever seen or heard anything about incidents with Citadel at Elon...other than the basketball game incident like 10 yrs ago when one fan incited one of their players...(can you say stupid - who in their right mind is going to mess with somebody who is miltary fit??) Don't recall that we have had that many visitors for Citadel football games - maybe we have, but I don't know that we have had any incidents. I don't think the average Elon fan has any hostility towards their fans or their team, for that matter. Guess there is always a possibility that somebody out there may act inappropriately. To your first question - I'm not sure what to talk about - so far, we seem to be in a pattern of a decent first half of play but that's it. I believe Citadel will win - hopefully I'm wrong - but I don't have any reason to believe this game will be any different from the rest of the games this season. I love Elon and will suppport the players, but I've given up on this coach.

Ive seen packs of feral 19 year olds on the field during the game behind the visitors bench trying to pick fights with the players at a Citadel game, but they were the nobs and the game was at Haygood Stadium in Charleston.

Game wise there is no telling what we'll see. Citadel football has a history of inconsistency. They lose to Charleston Southern and Furman then beat Samford. I'm expecting more of the same from Elon: We'll give them trouble in the first half, then through trying not to lose/win the time of possession battle we'll give up big numbers in the 2nd half and score no touchdowns.

ELON — Concussions likely have ended the season and possibly the college playing career of Akeem Langham, a reliable cornerback on the Elon football team.
Coach Jason Swepson said the junior is out for Saturday’s homecoming game against The Citadel and probably won’t play in Elon’s final two games that follow this weekend.
Langham made seven tackles two weeks ago at Western Carolina in Elon’s most-recent game, before leaving with his second concussion in a span of four games.
That marked at least his third concussion in the last two seasons.
Swepson said he “had a good conversation” with Langham earlier this week, as Elon’s players returned to work after the team’s open date on the schedule.
“I know you want to continue playing football. We’d love to have you playing football. But we’ve got to do what’s best for you,” Swepson said he told Langham.
“Obviously, we’re taking it real slow. He’s not playing this week and we’ll re-evaluate him on Sunday. But I’m more looking at the big picture. I’m looking at it as if he was my son.”
Swepson said he anticipates talking with Langham at length at the end of the season about the concussion issue and whether to play next year as a senior.
“We’ll see what happens, Swepson said. “We’ll see where this goes.”
Langham, a former High Point Central standout, has compiled 34 tackles and recovered a fumble this season. He has two career interceptions and has played in 30 out of a possible 31 games for the Phoenix.

It is better to be safe than sorry. I wish Langham well, he was a heck of a defensive player for us.
This news does not bode well for a defensive unit that has suffered greatly, even before the season began.

I was actually at said basketball game when I was in school there and standing very close to the fan in question because my group of friends always sat on that side of the court. There really wasn't even anything offensive and/or personal said, which wasn't always the case with our group, but the general badgering was enough to annoy that player and make him snap. I guess when you get yelled enough in school then getting yelled at during game will make you flip out.

I'll be making the trek to Rhodes for the game this week. All I want is to score a touchdown in the second half.

It wasn't what was said but eventually what was done. Said fan went down the row of Citadel players tapping them on their heads. The player that was about the fourth to be tapped jumped up & took a swing at said fan. Fan was a drunk fu_kstick in my book. Citadel player got suspended for a game. Undeservedly.
