I can confirm Bateman is interested. I also know some other interesting things that have happened.
One is very interesting and could be very good for the fans.

IMHO, Kerwin Bell would be a mistake. His teams at JU have been undisciplined and, despite good records, underacheiving. And JU's academics are nothing like Elon.

Wellman continues to make decisions based on personal relationships. I wonder what former Elon OC Warren Ruggiero will do.

FYI:
Wake Forest ready to introduce new football coach Clawson
Bowling Green coach Dave Clawson, here celebrating a victory against Northern Illinois in the MAC championship game, will be introduced as the new coach of Wake Forest today. The Associated Press By Adam Smith / Times-News Published: Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at 00:21 AM.
Bowling Green’s Dave Clawson is the choice at Wake Forest, and that means Pete Lembo, formerly of Elon, is not.
Widespread reports emerged Monday night that Clawson has been hired as Wake Forest’s next football coach. He was one of two finalists for the job, along with Ball State’s Lembo.
The Demon Deacons are expected to introduce Clawson today at a news conference, the Associated Press and Winston-Salem Journal, among others, reported. He will succeed Jim Grobe, who resigned last week after 13 seasons.
Clearly, the 46-year-old Clawson had compelling momentum. Bowling Green improved to 10-3 by toppling previously unbeaten and then-No. 16 ranked Northern Illinois in the Mid-American Conference championship game on Friday night. Wake Forest athletics director Ron Wellman, a Bowling Green alum, was in Detroit to see that game.
Lembo was Wellman’s first interview in the search process. That came Thursday — three days following the 61-year-old Grobe’s resignation — in Muncie, Ind., where Ball State is located. On Monday, hours before Wake Forest’s selection of Clawson surfaced, Lembo told the Times-News he had not heard from Wellman since that Thursday interview.
The 43-year-old Lembo, with a 25-12 record in three years at Ball State, has the Cardinals 10-2 this season and headed to the GoDaddy Bowl, their second bowl game in a row. On the Football Championship Subdivision level, he built Elon from a bottom feeder into a Southern Conference contender during his time with the Phoenix from 2006-2010.
Bowling Green will play Pittsburgh on Dec. 26 in the Little Caesars Bowl, marking the third bowl trip in five years that Clawson has engineered with the Falcons. He’s 32-31 at Bowling Green.
Clawson produced successful turnarounds in the FCS at Fordham (1999-2003) and Richmond (2004-2007), then made the leap to offensive coordinator at Tennessee in 2008, the final year Phillip Fulmer coached the Volunteers.
By hiring Clawson and considering Lembo, Wellman and Wake Forest have mined the MAC again. Grobe was plucked from that league in December 2000 after six seasons at Ohio.
Clawson obviously has a significant pay raise coming. He made $401,000 this year at Bowling Green while Grobe made $2.25 million at Wake.
On many occasions through the years, Lembo has called Clawson a longtime friend in the coaching business. Lembo began his career in 1992 as an assistant coach at Albany, the same school where Clawson started his career as an assistant in 1990. Both men looked up to Bob Ford, the veteran coach whose Albany tenure endured for 44 years, and saw him as a mentor.

Lembo has interviewed with UConn and seems to be a front runner there. Might put us back in the same situation.
