Elon: CoachingSearch.com has learned that Vanderbilt offensive line coach Herb Hand, Wake Forest quarterbacks coach / passing game coordinator Tom Elrod, and FIU offensive line coach Steve Shankweiler were among the finalists for the Elon head coaching job. A source tells me the job has been offered to one of the candidates. Check back shortly. Herb Hand would be a fantastic hire. Sounds like we'll know today! Thanks for the information - I'm a bit disappointed we don't have any head coach candidates in the mix - but also realize most head coaches had to get a start at some point. Am hoping that Blank pulls out a good hire this time.

Rich Skrosky returning to Elon. Elon: CoachingSearch.com has learned that the other finalist for the job was Ball State offensive coordinator Rich Skrosky, who will be named as the new head coach at Elon University.

Who on here actually knew or played for Rich and can give us knowledge seekers something to ponder? I think it is a great hire, I just want to know more about Coach Skrosky.

I played for Coach Skrosky and we couldn't have hired a better guy. He demands and asks a lot from his players but he is a great guy to be around. I think that you can ask any player that played for him their opinions on Coach Skrosky and they are nothing but positive. As a young alum I am thrilled that he is back in charge of the Elon program!

Absolutely elon77! Also I think a huge plus is the recruiting ties in North Carolina that he built at Elon and continued to build while at Ball State. That coupled with Appy St heading to the Sun Belt and the early hire (mid Dec) it should allow us to hit the ground running with recruiting.

Adam Smith from the Times-News confirmed today that none of these were finalists for HC job. As he said, "The internet is a strange and fascinating place."
