Elon grad, '85 here with a hobby of sports photography. I am shooting the Georgetown - Elon game and was hoping I could get a list of players to keep an eye out for when shooting the game. Elon Athletics got me set up with a photo credential and I want to provide them with a nice photo gallery for their web site of this game at Verizon Center. I've shot there before so I am familiar with the lighting, where to position myself etc but need a summary of how Elon hoops is doing. I'm excited to cover my school. I shot Maryland football and basketball the past three seasons and currently I shoot for George Mason. One of my shots made online Sporting News last week. Baby steps. Maybe I can get something similar with Elon hitting the dagger. Thanks all! --Bill

I watched the Colorado game and they played pretty well in the first half and made a nice comeback in the second after going down by 19. I'll keep an eye out for the photos! Troutman, Hamilton, Samson, Beaumont, Koch and Isenbarger are their main players, but I'm sure they'd want a variety of photos for fans/parents. Have fun!

Cool, thanks for the info. Georgetown hasn't been all that great this year so yeah, Elon can sneak up on them and steal one. I'll shoot a variety of photos, I hope the parents/fans are seated behind the Elon bench. What I really hope for is a last second buzzer beater like the above shot with Elon hitting it. That would make my day for sure. Dan Wyar, Director of Communications/Athletics has been very nice in helping me secure a credential. Really pumped to see my alma mater play up close tomorrow.

Would love to make it to the Elon reception at Clyde's Restaurant next to Verizon Center at 5:00 but I don't think I will make it in time as I have a lot to do before I get to the arena. Elon President Lambert and AD Dave Blank will be there at Clydes. I hope I will see them at the game instead.

A much better outing last night. I think Elon played some of their best basketball of the season. Smith was a beast for Gtown and with the new rules it's virtually impossible to defend someone like that. Their guards starting hitting shots in the 2nd half as well. Rebounding was much better.
The only downside was the the FT shooting. They could have had a real shot at the end if they had converted on FTs early. Oh well, on to Central Penn and FAU. Need two wins going into the Duke game.
Go Phoenix!

I believe their 3 point shooting percentage was better than their foul shot percentage, that's just not right. They have good shooters, so go figure.

A couple observations...
We live and die by the three.
Why in the heck was Hamilton on the bench for most of the second half?
We really struggled with the 2-3 zone of GTown. We had no answer for it and looked confused.
Our front court struggled mightily. Lucas played well, but Ryley really struggled. Koch has to battle a little more and not just settle for the outside shot. This hurts our rebounding.
I liked our transition game a bunch.
It was a good test for us. However, we have to get a lot better if we want to play in March. Call me pessimistic, but I'm really worried. We are not getting any good minutes from our bench.

A couple observations... We live and die by the three. Its that way every year. I guess its because we dont have the size/depth of other teams so we live on the outside

Good showing by Elon unlike the past two times I saw them in person (2008 and 2010 at Maryland), they were in the game to the end. Hoyas had a big edge in points in the paint thanks to this big guy, Joshua Smith. 6' 10", 350.
