This is probably the best, albeit toughest, schedule since moving to DI. It could be a tough first couple of years for football, but having these kinds of programs coming to Rhodes has me very excited. There is enough talent on the team to compete right away, but this schedule doesn't let up at any point.
For personal reasons, I can't wait for 11/8. Being from Tidewater and having spent a lot of time in Williamsburg growing up, it'll be cool to see Elon playing at Zable.
Go Phoenix!

Brutal, brutal schedule.
I predict 2-10 or 3-9 right now. Not a reflection of our new coaches. I hope we can steal a couple.
I would be estatic with a 5-7 record. Just being realistic.

Talk about brutal, how about your bye week being the second week of the season? No favors there.

I predict We will not win one, not one game are We favored I hate predictions We just need a new culture of where the student body/alumni gets behind these guys (who have to get tougher) but for God's sake would you (ALL) please keep the prognostications down until the 2014 has time to try on their shoes, We need optimism.

We weren't picked to win one conference game in 2006 either. But after back to back 3 win seasons with no conference wins, we won 5 games including 2 conference games. Point is, you just never know what will happen with a new culture and attitude. Our roster looks better now, especially on the lines than it did this time in 2006. Y'all probably get tired of reading this from me, but I don't think we have a bad team personnel wise. We just need a set of coaches that will run the team based on what personnel they have, not on what they want the team to be 5-7 years down the road.
I'm still fuming on that goal line stand against Wofford where we ran the same play 4 times. Our players, offense and defense, deserved better that day. Yeesh!!!

BTW, Coastal was ranked, 25th I think, when we beat them in 2006.

We are basically going to run the same system on offense. So no real change there. What will be interesting to see is our defense.
Agreed on the talent level. We are at a better place than we were when Pete took over. That being said, we are moving into a better league overall.

He wanted a 50/50 balance run vs. pass. I think we'll see a lot more pass with Skrosky, at least to start. Regardless, I have to believe the play calling will be different. I would REALLY be surprised to see Skrosky play the Score, Score, Score, first half then play not to lose in the 2nd like Swepson. I think our per game scoring is about to take a 10 point leap. Although we will be playing more formidable defenses in the CAA. I don't think Skrosky will be trying to prove a point, ie., I can build a running team. I think Skrosky will be focused more on our strengths, irrespective of what they might be.

There are a couple of firsts in this schedule. It's the first time Elon has played a pure D1 schedule. No transitional or non scholarship teams. First time playing 2 FBS teams and first for the CAA. huge step up in the quality of schedule!

Charlotte will be transitioning to ASU's "top" in-state rival, will have over 63 scholardhips but thank God We have no D-2's on OOC schedule.

This is certainly open for debate, but in the next 6-7 years I expect UNCC to rival ECU and blow past App in the power ratings. I think UNCC will quickly become App's primary in state rival. I saw somewhere that they have scheduled several games with App two or three years down the road. They will give App competition then. Why? They have a quality plan. Charlotte is a great city with good transportation, plenty of accommodations, restaurants, night life, etc. They also hired top level quality in Brad Lambert their HC, Their facilities are first class and built to grow. They also have plenty of money and the City of Charlotte wants this to succeed. I'm not sure how great they will be next season, but I will bet they'll not be pushovers.
