Since traffic on the basketball side will be pretty non-existent until next fall, at the completion of this season, I wanted to touch on what expectations are for 2014-2015 season.
With the 4 starting seniors departing, what can we expect next season with returning players and incoming freshman. It doesn't look to promising?

I see some young athletic talent waiting in the wings. Will we be experienced....no. Will we have our troubles being young in a new league....yes. But with Harrison, Dawkins, Blake, Hamilton, Samson, Winters and throw in Sabato I see a more athletic team that with the proper coaching can surprise people. I think Harrison will be the big difference maker, with Dawkins not far behind. You know what you are going to get pretty much with Samson, Blake and Hamilton (all three have been starters this year). We are going to need the bigs to really step up and Harrison to be what I think he can be......one of the most exciting players to play at Elon. I think we will be less reliant on the 3, more of a slash/drive team with better D. Just my thoughts.....but I am still hoping for a victory tonight against Davidson and a tourney sweep in Asheville. We can still make history and go to the NCAA this year.......it is all before us.

I hope Coach Matheny lets the team run in transition. We have got some really exciting transition players in Eddy, Hairston and Blake. Hairston and Dawkins are 2 of the best rebounders on the team if you look at rebounds per minutes played. I think Dawkins and Eddy along with Hamilton are outstanding defenders. That, (defense), is the only place I see Hairston as being in need of big improvement. We will no doubt miss Lucas. Right now we really have no one who can step up to fill his shoes. We really need another "catch and shoot" three point marksman as well. We have all our eggs in one basket with Samson, as we lose Isenbarger and Koch. I had hope that Sabato might improve to the level of taking Ryley's place, but right now he has a long, long way to go. With another 6'10" replacement for Lucas, that job would easily fall to Dawkins next year.

We will be a 15 to 20 loss team next year.
The honeymoon ended badly and next year is going to be ugly.

Next year may seem to be daunting, but I think we will be better than expected. We know what we have with the upperclassmen, and I agree with posters here, the class of 2017 has talent. Yes, we will not be the same team that has been the focus for the last 4 years. Next year's team will have better balance than this year's team. Our team defense will be better. We will be a more athletic team. The team may have some early growing pains, but I think they will make adjustments faster and meet challenges head-on. The seniors have paved the way for growth. Eddy, Hairston and Dawkins were All-state players from their respective states. Each player had a write-up regarding their efforts at a Reebok Headliner Tryouts Camp, and Dawkins made it to the National Headliner Camp in Philadelphia. The level of talent in this class may not be appreciated yet. IMO, this class will raise the bar for Elon Basketball. Some videos for all to see: Luke Eddy www.youtube.com/watch?v=zsJ7KCXPLWoChristian Hairston www.youtube.com/watch?v=alooAtD3SGIBrian Dawkins www.youtube.com/watch?v=zlo7ZA4HwDcLet's get behind the team on Saturday and see what happens. Go Phoenix!!

I also think the play of Samson, Blake, Hamilton and Winters will improve....I did see big improvement in Samson, Blake and at times Winters this year. With the three young guns (Hairston, Eddy and Dawkins) plus the 4 upper classmen of Samson, Blake, Hamilton and Winters I think the core is there for an exciting athletic team. Would help to recruit another big and 3 point shooter in the incoming freshman class. I understand we have only 1 recruit committed as of now but am not sure where we stand on all this. Any recruits that can step in and help will be a plus......but we need to get more athletic than this years team and next year we will be.
I am going to Asheville Saturday to see the team play and plan to be there until after the Championship game Monday night! Lets get 3 wins and go to our first NCAA! Go Phoenix!

Is Edomwonyi not coming back next year? I assume he still has a year of eligibility left. Really need some size with experience. Winters and Dawkins are headed in the right direction as well.
Looking at the verbalcommits website it looks like there are a few Elon offers out there, but many of those players have been offered by other really good programs as well. There is a Dutch big man, that looks like he could be really good. Would be nice to land a solid replacement for Troutman.
Go Phoenix!

Looks like another commit for next year. Elijah Bryant, a 6'5" SG from Georgia.

It is good to see players with some size being added. I could not find any info on these guys in Rivals or Scout.

Add Dmitri Thompson to the list for next year.
6'4" SG from Orlando. Rivals has him as a 3 star recruit. Seems like a really good get.
Go Phoenix!

I watched a highlight video and he seems to be able to create his own shot off the dribble, which is a good quality and something that was missing at times last year.
