Alright, it's time to get some discussion going for the season and the first game.
Expectations for week 1.....what are yours? What kind of improvement do you think we'll see right out of the gate? What's your prediction for the game? Etc.....
From what I'm reading, it sure sounds like the offense has greatly improved during camp. CC sounds strong in practice, and the WRs sound like they're catching the ball well. I haven't seen too much out of the back field. Will Malcolm Summers get the nod?
On the defense, the loss of Mitchell was pretty big (wish the guy well is his chosen profession!). Sounds like Messer has really stepped in at LB and earned the spot.
To be honest, I don't know much about GWU. They will return the big dual threat QB that threw and rushed for over 100 yards before being injured in OT.

LY GW beat Liberty, Presby and East Tenn, we did squeak out a win last year. They were a bottom dweller in the Big South. Being a home game and an improved offence I predict an Elon win 24-10

I know our D has a lot of new faces this year, but I think they will be ruthless. Size up front, speed at LB & DB. I'm all in on drinking the Kool Aid this year kids.

I want to see offensive production. We scored more than 20 points only three times all year. We have to score points. End of story. Our D kept us in games. We can't always rely on them to hold teams down. Not to mention, we need to have a starter that is consistent at QB.
Please score some points.

Offense seems to be doing well in practice and scrimmages. Not sure if that's because the O is great or the D is rebuilding. I'm hoping it's the former.
I really don't know what to expect from this group yet. Everything I'm hearing is positive and upbeat. Which makes me a little pessimistic. Still, I think they take care of GW by 17 points.

I think we'll see the best pass blocking we've seen in a long time this year. Now, the QB needs to get the ball to the receivers and they need to catch it. That was a problem last year. Get that right & I think we'll be competitive in a lot more games this year. I'm glad we're starting with a beatable opponent this year versus a P5 team that will just crush us. It'll give us the opportunity to work on a few things before conference games.

I'm assuming nobody on here went to the GW game last year, you guys were lucky to win and it was pretty even throughout. The Bulldogs are much improved on offense so I wouldn't count on an easy win, just sayin...Good luck

Jimmy,
Welcome!!
It was an even game, I don't think anyone here would say otherwise. Really tuff game that came down to execution on a single play, and tough your backup threw and INT in OT.
Looking forward to seeing how far the team has progressed with another year of rebuilding, and also how GWU is coming along. Question, are you guys starting Maxwell or the Troy transfer?

My guess is that the running game won't gain traction for the first few games. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't expect to see more than 80 +/- rushing yards in this game.

Maxwell will be the starter, not even close in my opinion. His passing has improved and the running game will help as it has improved. DLine is the biggest turnover but LB's are pre season all conference and Geter is All American watch does Elon have anything like that returning?

Holy Crap activity on a thread that I did not start. 2015 version had to learn how to win and now We have personnel that can match up with anyone. How well they play with a better attitude will remain to be seen

I agree too, the team has the personnel, now it just comes down to one thing. Looking forward to the start of the season and continuing the upward trend.

Though with Charlotte the following week we could over look GW.
