The reason there was no QB in this class was because they had one committed and he jumped within the last month of two before signing day. At that point I don't think they could find anyone that would have been worth to bring in. Why bring in a kid who is not an upgrade to what you have? A QB has already committed for this new class as well. Not sure they'll go for two though.
The atmosphere is so so at best. What stadium upgrades are we talking about exactly? A video board.... Something almost every team in our conf already had. Or are we talking to inflated ship slide? Not much has been done to the stadium since it was open. There is not a lot of fan engagement. And as i was sad for student to come to the game for this is dumb if they can't even tailgate and be a college kid. I know winning would cure most of this but same time the school and athletic department are not doing anything now to help the situation.

That is a lame excuse for not having a scholarship qb in the 2017 class. Players decomit all the time and coaches know they need to have backup plans.
Plain and simple. Skrosky had 2 - 2nd year guys and was willing to tie this team's success to one of them. Like I said in an earlier post. Why don't we take a transfer? Every major FBS team has 3 to 4 QBs on their roster. Only one plays. Go get somebody!!!!

The team seemed pretty pumped up when he got in late in the game and rattled off a nice 28 yd run and two passes.

It might not be an excuse may be the back up kid they had committed else where or they didn't think he was as good as what they had.
And getting transfers to Elon is not as easy as that. A lot of classes don't transfer over. And Elon is very admit that all graduates spend more than half their time at Elon to earn a degree. We will never get anyone unless it is a freshman transfer aka Chris Blair. And talking to a coach they said it is very hard to get a grad transfer because of something with the school can't remember all the details.

Elon STRONGLY discourages its athletes from pursuing a Masters while being an active athlete. They maintain the time required for the Masters is too high for an athlete with a rigorous sports and training schedule. Thus, we will continue to see graduates with eligibility remaining transfer to a school where they can get a Masters while playing.

Guys, a bunch of excuses. Every school get transfers. Look at JMU and Richmond. Time to stop, the deflection and excuses.
If we can't recruit or need more time to develop talent we need to be nimble and source the best players. Enough of the BS.
Where did Vax Lee come from at JMU? You have to work, the process. 17/18 year old s will not save your jobs!!

Not really an excuse but actual facts. Every school does get transfers but does not happen as much at Elon for the reasons stated above. It's not an athletics or football thing but from the academic side.
Also look at facilities to get these transfers. JMU and WM got SEC transfers this year. Facilities are better. You talk about JMU and Richmond look at what they have done the last 10 years. The haven't just got to the play offs one season. They have a winning history and a history of guys making/ having a shot at the next level. Elon not so much. Sounds easy to just get transfers but a lot more to it than you really think.

On the QB front, CC will be 20 in Oct, DT 20 in Nov. Age is not their issue. They just are not performing at this level.

5 QBs on roster, one a transfer from DI Butler (non-scholarship). Who is next in line? Next QB in line is #13 Conor Hughes. Here is his bio from the Elon site: First-team all-state selection… Named Central Jersey Offensive Player of the Year, county offensive player of the year and all-area as a kicker… Team captain… Helped coach Bill Tracy’s program to a 12-0 season and a state title in 2013… Completed 115 of 185 passes for 1,768 yards and 18 touchdowns as a senior… Added 418 yards and four scores on the ground that same year. From what I hear next in line would actually be the freshman #9 Seth Harrell. He is a freshman from MA, and from what I understand from inside the program is that his potential is far above the rest. Issues over playing this year was size, as he is listed at 177 on the team's website.

I see we have 8 QBs on the roster. Does anyone know which ones travel other than CC, DT and CH?

Before you discount our current QBs, I'd suggest taking a glance at the receiver corps. Are they getting open, getting any kind of separation? www.ncaa.com/news/football/article/2016-09-22/college-football-how-purdue-became-quarterback-cradle-secHere's an interesting story on a couple QBs that couldn't get anything done at Purdue, a team in the midst of struggles similar to Elon. But they's transferred out and are now starting in the SEC. Why did they suck at Purdue? Below average receivers, bad offensive system. But now they're some of the best in the country. I don't think these guys just learned how to throw the ball... So, on Saturday, pay more attention to the receivers. Then perhaps we can make a more realistic evaluation. We've already had a ton of gripes about the vanilla, screen pass oriented offense Elon has been running. Perhaps there's a reason for that. Just making a suggestion...

Could the receivers problems be related to coaching or patterns or lack of either? They all have good size and speed. Just food for thought.........

Honestly could very well be. Could be coaching. Could be the offense. Could be the fit. So many things play into it.
