I was sitting on the away side as well in the 2nd half to get warm and the atmosphere was completely different. RHode island fans and team were fired up and energized. Elon side was like a funeral and the game was 13-7 when the 2nd half began. The RI coaches had their team ready to play, we mailed it in again. Home section had parents a few fans and about 5 students. Only saving grace is JMU is playoff bound so we will see their 2nd, 3rd and 4th stringers in the 2nd half. Maybe the 2nd quarter. jmho I was there in person and My evaluation is congruent with several other posters.Who can truthfully get enthused about this product. No one is buying into this. We know it is possible to win at our level but our product that is presented that does nothing on the field is NOT attracting anything positive to Elon. Also the lack of fan support from the students has been my greatest disappointment in my career posting on this forum. As it stands now, this is not a program than warrants any support . This is a business Military Appreciation /Senior Day if it were not for the parents God Bless them for writing the checks there were more folks on the field than in the stands. This is going to cost a lot by NOT doing anything. As a F/B alum it sickens me as I have believed in RS and the recruiting hype. "Make Elon GREAT Again" We need a over-haul in Athletics We have to WIN not compete. AD/HC We could get a name guy. Name Guy brings in talent! Here's a name guy that would provide some regional hype.... Steve Logan

Here is another one who has won National Championships as a Head Coach:
CONWAY - Mickey Matthews, a three-time National Coach of the Year who has helped two programs win national championships, has been named defensive coordinator at Coastal Carolina University, head coach Joe Moglia announced.
Matthews, who was a color analyst for ESPN the last two years (2014 and 2015), spent 15 seasons as head coach at James Madison (1999-2013) and led the Dukes to the 2004 NCAA I-AA (currently Football Championship Subdivision) Championship while earning national Coach of the Year honors in 1999 (Eddie Robinson), 2004 (American Football Coaches Association) and 2008 (Eddie Robinson and Liberty Mutual). He additionally helped Marshall win the I-AA Championship in 1992 while the Herd played in the I-AA title game in 1991, 1993 and 1995.

Who is the big wig on this site cutting the check for a buyout? Exactly Of course this is a disappointing season, but this is our 3rd year in the CAA where on any given weekend, 2/3 of the conference is ranked in the top 25. To keep things in perspective, we were trending down in a weaker SoCon conference under Swepson. In my opinion, last year's performance would've given us a winning season in the SoCon. This year's maybe .500. Of course all of this is in my opinion, but Skrosky needs 5 years and let's look at the trajectory then. When they keep Skrosky at the end of this season, I hope all of you don't quit writing those huge checks you send in every year. What are you doing to help the trajectory of this program? I'm in the top 10% of donors to the Phoenix Club over the past 15 years. Sorry, the statement in bold isn't close to true. Our offense hasn't scored but 10 touchdowns all year. We would be one of the 3 bottom teams in the SoCon as well.

If donations dry up, Lambert will care.
Money talks and at this point, I will not give the school another dime.
We can attract a terrific HC and staff

Maybe Blank should apologize to Sweepson and bring him back.

I cannot see continued support for Athletics Excellence without a true commitment to changing the culture and that means a grass root support to really winning and that means playoff bid I like many others could care less. just shut this forum down it's crap put up a twitter site Elonstillsucks I am sorry for negativity and the players that get no support It has to be heartbreaking.

Many seniors honored yesterday have/had those same aspirations. Kids growing up playing football, don't dream of going to Elon. They dream of the NFL and playing for Alabama, Michigan, Ohio State, etc. best to park the NFL argument. Less then 1% in the entire NCAA play in the NFL. & less then 1% play division 1 football. This is not as much of a talent issue as it is a coaching issue and scheme. Granted the QB play has been terrible. The coaching, the self discipline and the play calling has been unacceptable. Frankly, the plAyers need to focus on their education. This is a long term decision for them, not 4 years. It is unfortunate that the football program is in complete disarray. Wise, wise, wise Grandpa! All blogs need someone on it who makes sense in their critiques. I salute you, Sir! Very well stated! EDUCATION 1st Football 2nd!

Honestly I love Elon, graduated in 2001. Played football. I have followed the team through the last 15 years. I have been back to nurmours games and other events on campus. I will tell you one thing. This school does not care a whole lot for athletics or the success of athletics. The athletic teams are there strictly to market the school (See why we joined the CAA). Yea we have some descent facilities that can compete but overall our athletic budgets for our teams/recruiting is no where near a team like JMU, Richmond or William and Mary. Our administration from the school side aka the President could absolutely care less if any sports team does good or not. As long as they are marketing the school he is okay with who ever leads the team and if they win or not, doesn't really matter. Which if that is how he is going to be so be it.
Obviously from the stand point of coaches still have jobs even though they have been in last place 3 straight years (women's soccer) shows our athletic department doesn't really care either. 3 years for a football coach is enough to see if the team is headed in the right direction or not. Being 7-40 is awful has no business having a job. Yet all 3 have jobs which shows our AD either is also clueless or doesn't care because he has no pressure from the president to actually succeed. I think it's more than just football at this point. It's the whole Athletic Department.
