Anyone think at some point a change at coaching is needed? Heaven forbid! Kennedy has pulled rabbits out of hats now for many years. He has done more with less than anyone I know.

I understand that he has done more in the past which maybe gives him more a leash but does that mean he can have 6-7 years of .500 baseball? At some point, it has to be looked at correct?

As the HC for Clemson said when they hired Greg Starbuck......Kennedy is very well respected in the realm of college baseball. I think they'll give a guy with nearly 700 wins and 6 regional appearances (5 of which were via at-large) a few more years to resurrect the program.

The rumor is that Kennedy turned down an offer to coach at Wake Forest some 7-8 years ago. He was also rumored to at least be among the finalists for the Duke job. I do know that He likes it here at Elon. But as EP said, Kennedy is very well respected around the country. I'm not sure what it would take to steal Kennedy away from Elon, but I do know that his daughter graduated from high school a couple of years ago and his son will graduate next spring. His wife does have a nice job here in Burlington and they are well entrenched in the community, but if the ACC or SEC came knocking, with little other than local relationships to keep them here, I find it hard to believe he wouldn't move. The point is, his future at Elon may not be an issue too much farther into the future. The down side is, I'm not sure anyone we could convince to take the job will do better.

We're by no means a bad team. All has been said here. Truth be said, college of Charleston isn't what they were either in the socon. Maybe moving to a weaker league hurt more than we're giving that credit for.

Not trying to be a dic about this but UNCW, tied for first in the CAA, dropped both games to Campbell this season. In addition, the CAA is ranked 22nd, the Big South is ranked 18th.

They definitely didn't do much to instill confidence this weekend. Bad series loss at Hofstra. The pitching has been good enough in a lot of games this season to give them a chance, but they just can't score runs. Really bad with runners on.
Hofstra is now the only team that can bump Elon out of the conference tourney. Would take a lot for that to happen, but the way this season has gone I wouldn't be surprised if it did.
Go Phoenix!

If the CAA is not as good as the SOCON how can we not do better in it? I do not think changing conferences changed our recruiting by any means from who we recruit to where we recruit. If we are recruiting the same (which maybe this isn't true) what is the problem? Are players developing? Just asking questions not trying to stir the pot

The cost of attending Elon over the past 10 years has increased nearly 40%, again with no academic money. This could be part of the problem. In my opinion, we likely would have struggled in the SoCon too. But that's just conjecture.

The conference we're in affects recruiting, for sure. Just like it helped basketball... It hurts baseball. Take that with costs rising and here's what we have. The So on has fallen a bit too

We're not good. Plain and simple. Blown out tonight by Liberty.

The So on has fallen a bit too I don't think we can say simply that the CAA has hurt Elon baseball recruiting. Mark Scalf has had a heck of run in CAA at the helm of UNCW. I think he's approaching 900 wins. Things started to falter a bit the last 2 years in the SoCon......although it still had an at large bid to the regionals in '13 with record just a hair over .500. UNCW does have the beach to use as a recruiting tool, so it's not really an apples/apples comparison. I still think Kennedy can make the school relevant again in baseball. He's a good coach, and has had coached some solid teams.

.500 in a subpar conference. 8 games under .500 over all. Best team in the conference is .500. Just some bad baseball in the CAA. Not sure how we can't be in top half of this thing. 6 of 9 team are .500 or worse overall. I think we locked up 6th place maybe 5th after the weekend depending on how things play out... rough fall for the boys.

Davidson is going to a Super Regional with a program funded with three scholarships and Elon can't even win a game in the CAA tourney.
Just brutal.
