Regardless of the reason(s) for last season's performance, I think the current coaching staff has the elements the team needs to begin a sustainable turnaround. I personally think the team has more ability than they've shown over the past two seasons. I think we'll be pleasantly surprised at our team's competitiveness this season. I feel we've got more talent and ability, by far, than they showed last year. This turnaround won't happen overnight. We will have at least four starters who've never played a snap of college football. So the first game might be ugly, but I still think we'll be better than last year, even in the first game. I also think that by mid season, we'll be a mid level CAA team, unfortunately we will have taken a few lumps in the early going of the conference slate. I considered Skrosky a friend, but I'm glad he's gone. He'll do better as a coordinator. He just wasn't what Elon needed in a head coach. Welcome to the Cignetti era! I have seen this a lot so I am not just singling you out but my question is why? What makes everyone think this staff has the elements or the it factor to make this team good? If you want to just say you're optimistic that's fine, I can understand that. I do agree that I think we some talent that was not utilized the best of the ability the past few years, I also think that the last staff lost this team half way through the season. I think they did not have a QB, which Cheeks is a Skrosky recruit who from what I heard early on, new staff didn't even want but I digress. I hope you are right on all the statements you're making. I agree I am glad Skrosky is gone. I think he did a lot more than the staff before him with recruiting and that but he still didn't win games. This first game means little to me, a couple pretty good nonconference games after that... but let's see what we do in the CAA. That's when I can really say this staff might have something or not.

The proven track record of Cignetti is the difference for me. It doesn't guarantee anything, but shows a history of competence in the role. I didn't like the Swepson hire from the start. I admittedly thought Skrosky would do better than he did despite the minimal HC experience. Cignetti has proven himself in the role elsewhere and has a history dealing with some pretty high profile players and teams. Ultimately it's what you said though. We're all optimistic because we want the team to win and we all like to talk about it. I just want to see the team compete tonight and not look defeated coming out of the tunnel like we saw at UNC and GT. Go Phoenix!

Yes, anyone know a spot to tailgate? since it's being played at the "Glass" bowl I would try to find a place close to the "fork" in the road.

If u think they have 12 freshman on the two man depth chart because they are better, it would be a mistake. Some are on there due to injuries and some were given by the coaching staff. I know they are doing a much better job than the previous staff, but y hinder your success for this yr with that. Some of the positions u will c its obviously noticeable, but hey who am i....Well lets c wat we have Lets go Phoenix!!!

Let's face it. Our offensive line is horrible. You know, I've been singing their praises most of the off season, but tonight, you're absolutely right. Slow, scared indecisive QBs and a porous OL. If this doesn't change it's going to be another long season.

Completely disappointed in the offense tonight. I expected to see something different tonight than last year. It actually looks worse. I didn't think that was possible. Hats off to the D. They've played 3 tough quarters against a superior opponent.
