The tournament! Playoffs!! Let's try and win a game here. Even if we finish Top 6, we aren't going to any touramment unless we reconsider the CBI or CIT. I will admit the loss of Bryant was big but that was 3 years ago. We are in huge trouble in the upcoming years even with one big man if Matheny-Ball transitions to the new arena.
Lookout today by the way. On paper, this has the makings of being lopsided. Towson is no joke and we are not exactly coming in hitting on all cylinders

Great win today. Let up a little in the second half, but arguably our best game this year. Let’s see if they can build on this and win a few in a row (can’t say I expect it, but maybe some optimism is needed). Let’s go EU.

Very happy to see the win today. I'm really hoping the guys found something that will help them play more consistently. They still let up toward the end, but if they can get way up on teams and coast in for the win consistently, I'm ok with that. JUST WIN BABY!!
Just a note, we had 4 dunks today; two by Meech, one by Santa Ana and I think one by Seibring? This is the kind of aggressive play in the paint we need. We had 21 fouls today, but nobody fouled out. So all was well. We had 26 3 pt. attempts today versus 21 2 pt. which is a good balance for our type of team, imo. Overall a solid performance.

What is going on here? Two positive messages in a row about the Men’s Basketball team.

LOL, a moment of positivity. Nice W! As pessimistic as I am about the state of our program, I wish nothing but the best for the kids and Matt. They work hard, are good people, and deserve moments like this

What is going on here? Two positive messages in a row about the Men’s Basketball team. I've made plenty of negative posts this season with regard to MBB. Most of it comes from frustration because I think we should be doing better. I personally like a fast game with a lot of lane driving and dunks. Frankly, I think they should move the 3 pt. arc back another 3 feet. IMO, its become too much a part of the game. But I digress. I don't want another coach. I just want Matt to be better. We need better in game coaching, especially within the last 5 minutes. We need better motivation and/or conditioning for more consistent play. And we need better recruiting, hopefully, the Schar will help with that. I don't think we're that far from having a great team. I just don't think it's possible to get there with what we're doing now.

Nice to see a game finished off. One of the biggest things that happened today was that we got to the free throw line. It made a huge difference.
I am as happy when we win as I amhard on the team when we lose.
Let’s hope this gets us to make a run. We have to make a move to have a chance in March.
Let’s go!

It's time, I'm not sorry. 4 Straight losses by a margin of over 19 points. A line up last night that made no sense. Clear visible evidence that he has lost of the confidence in his team (arguably his staff). A finally a recruiting class that is marginal at best. As an alumni I loved watching this team grind, but now they lack any fire and are quite soft.
I give Matt all the praise in the world for bringing this program from the bottom of the Socon to where we are now. He is a coach that can build a struggling program to be a competitive one. However, there is a difference between winners and rebuilders. We have seen it when we play big time programs, but even more so in the CAA. Good teams have coaches that can inspire wins when the team should not have. This is what it takes to be competitive, this is what it takes to go on a run in the NCAA like Davidson. We are (at least I thought) out of the rebuilding stage. It is time to win and grow, not regress.
We need a coach that has been to the NCAA before, can coach under pressure and knows how to recruit the right players for this program. Whether that be an assistant at Duke or UNC or a HC from another program, we need someone to use the momentum to attract fan interest. I am worried sick that we built this fancy new arena and it will be empty, because this season inspired no fans. Change is needed, I applaud Matt, but its times to cut the cord.

We have one good player in Seibring. I respect him immensely because he isn’t physically impressive, he gets it done with his drive and basketball IQ. Swoope is ok and Thompson would be all CAA if not for his substantial confidence problem, but as it is, he is just ok. The rest are mediocre at best and really not even good role players at this time.
I expect Elon will continue to be in the lower half of the conference for the foreseeable future based on what’s in the pipeline. I don’t see Blank making a change this year. So I’m afraid we’ll just have to get comfortable with mediocrity for at least the next two to three years.
Side question: other than Seibring, who is one other Elon basketball player that finished his college career better than he was as an incoming freshman?

Agreed about it being time for him to go. He's had plenty of time to prove he can take the next step and it hasn't happened. Despite him making the program more competitive overall, he really hasn't accomplished anything remarkable in his 9 years. He had a losing record overall in SoCon play and never won more than one SoCon conference tourney game in a season. In the CAA he's 30-44 with the only conference tourney win being a play in game. Just because Nestor was awful doesn't mean Matt accomplished something. Even Nestor managed to get Elon to a conference tournament title game. Too many misses in recruiting, too many players regressing over their career, too many players not meeting expectations. Something has to change. On a side note...Charlotte Smith has one of the youngest teams in the country and is about to post another 20 win season and a top 3 conference spot. She's a winner. Go Phoenix!
