Wofford is about 3/4 run vs 1/4 pass offense but they pass very effectively (high per yd per catch) too. Their defense is strong, very strong against the run (96 yds per game), and give up about 210 yds by air. The folks who beat them generally did it by air but also established a running game (about 150 yds per game). If you run alot against them you probably won't win. This could be quite a dogfight as long as we play well defensively and offensively do more then just try to run the ball. Another thing to note about David Thompson's performance against Maine - this was the first time in two years he played QB in a game. Hopefully with a little more coaching and practice he will be a little sharper.

Glad they got in. Was really dejected after the way yesterday went down.
We thinking DT starts on Sat? I wouldn't mind Greene being mixed in, but the offense was night and day when Thompson came in. Hoping the RBs are healthy too with Thomas and McNair not seeing the field much in the 2nd half.
Anyhow, will be making the trip down and hoping for Elon's first FCS playoff win.
Go Phoenix!

In November of 2016 it would have been hard to imagine an Elon FB team going to the playoffs 2 years in a row. While I was disappointed in the outcome yesterday I was happy for the team that they fought the way they did. This may go down as a year of "what ifs" but right now this FB is the best athletic hope for Elon (WBB is just so young this year). Wofford is a big ask, averaging 450 yds of offense per game (330 on the ground). I hope the defense is up to it. We don't see anyone like them during the regular season anymore. No room for turnovers or penalties against Wofford. A playoff win would be a great step forward for the program. Same old Wofford formula, one thing is our strength is our DL and linebackers. We have to play good field position and special teams are a must. find our offense. And just not give up when We are down.

Surprised we got in. I thought there were a few teams that were going to get in before we did. Especially with how we had been playing last few weeks.
Who plays QB? Or at least who starts? It blows my mind that DT played his first action in over 2 years. And did much better than Greene. I’m glad he got a chance. Can we run against them if we did not have a passing threat with Greene? Can we stop their run? If we stop their run does wofford have it in the to throw the ball for a win?
Very interesting match up this week.

The home team in the first round has nothing to do with W-L record. It only matters what the higher bid is. Assuming we get into the playoffs, I wouldn't bet on Elon losing a bid. So I expect our first game to be a home game. I guess we got out bid....

DT didn't have the offensive scheme 2 years ago and didn't have pass protection to the same degree. He actually looked pretty good after not having played but a few minutes in the Towson game over the last two years. Hopefully he will consider this his last chance to put up a "first" for Elon by winning our first playoff game. I don't see Green having substantial playing time as his game makes us too 1 dimensional.

Couple thoughts:
* We got out-bid. No issue with that since we would have taken a bath with funds our school does not have. Last year’s crowd was as bad as the Towson game. Hopefully we’ll have some die-hards from Charlotte and Atlanta make the trip.
* DT should start. Greene can be ready to go. DT earned it on the field, Saturday. We will have to throw the ball to win.
* It’s a one-game season. Now or never.

I don't see Green having substantial playing time as his game makes us too 1 dimensional. I thought the same thing about Thompson. He came in, immediately completed 3-4 straight passes and led a scoring drive. He looked pretty good at times, rolling out of the pocket, throwing the ball away to avoid sacks....and even tucking and running a couple times (think he had carries of 9 & 14 yards?). The completion percentage wasn't all that great, but for being 3rd in line for a couple years he played much better than expected. I would think you have to give Thompson the start. Also, man the D has their work cut out for them. Don't know much about Wofford this season, but they can put up a ton of yards.

Wofford will put up yards against us too. The trick is not letting them put up a lot of points. Wofford will try to make this a 2.5 hour game and completely control the time of possession. This is why DT needs to start. We will absolutely need quick strike ability. He's not the runner Jalen is but we have running backs for that. As long as he can make contact with his receivers, it will open up the run game.
If we had our normal line-up I feel we would be the overwhelming favorite for the win. However, being down a QB, linemen being dinged up, DB's in various states of wellness, we'll need to muster everything we can to take this one.
One thing to consider, WOCO has had 17 turnovers this year, 14 fumbles with 7 lost and 10 interceptions. So there is at least a bit of opportunity there.

"IF" we get by Wofford, I feel pretty good about the next week barring any unexpected issues/injuries. IMO KSU had only one good-ish win which was Samford. 154 on Massey's rating. Samford was their best opponent IMO. They did beat JSU, (in OT), but JSU had a cupcake schedule as well.
