While they’re at it, maybe JMU could take Blank, Matheny, Dockrill, Bocock and Tendler off our hands. This is a result of Blank not being proactive and getting an extension and competitive pay for CC and the Assistants and not securing funding for an indoor practice facility. We will loose a great staff and the momentum they have built and quite possibly a number of really good recruits. This, simply, should not have happened. We are between a rock and a hard place. This. Sums it so well. We have a culture where losing is acceptable and we like to say we’re D1. That’s it. This falls on then feet of our President, Athletic Director and Trustees. It’s as simple as that.

Could it hurt to promote from within if he doesn’t take all the coaches with him?

Could it hurt to promote from within if he doesn’t take all the coaches with him? Hiring from within could work. The only issues are doing it for the wrong reasons such as to keep a recruiting class together or keeping the continuity of the team and not actually getting the best option to take over. With that said the staff is going to get blown up as some will go to JMU I’m sure. Some will go other places.

Guys you are being melodramatic. Elon is always going to be a stepping stone. So will JMU, whether they are FBS or FCS. I mean, App and JMU just lost their coaches. Richmond lost their coach to Delaware, we lost ours to JMU. I think it stinks that he leaves to another conference school. I think that is bad form.
But we are late in the game. We may need to promote from within to get a recruiting class this year at all.

Not a Lembo fan. I remember the crazy aggression on the sidelines between his players.... didn't really like that. Jerry Schmitt at Duquense Dan Hunt at Colgate Drew Cronic at Lenoir-Rhyne Chris Pincince seems to be doing well at New Haven Shawn Lutz at Slippery rock Kerwin Bell at Valdosta State Drew Cronic and Kerwin Bell both look solid. Cronic may be a better fit coming from LR - a private school. But both look good. Lembo was a good hire by Dr. White, but my impression is that he burned a few bridges while he was here. It’s unlikely that Blank would ever hire him back. Plus, he treated some of his assistants poorly enough that he may have a tough time filling out a top notch staff. How about Warren Ruggeiro? He may not be HC material, but he was a heck of an OC.

It would be nice to keep Trisciani. The 335 D worked well for us. So I think we’ll need someone familiar with that scheme to come in as I would bet Trisciani will go with Cignetti, and I don’t think he’s quite ready for the HC job.
I’m not sure what will happen with Folmar. I would like to see him stay, I’m not sure of his relationship with Cignetti, but again, I don’t think Folmar is ready for the HC.
There are several top level position coaches I would hate to see go. Especially Wrobo, Hall & Merritt. Might Wrobo be a HC possibility. My gut tells me no but he certainly has the experience.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Folmar snags the job at Lehigh. I think both he and Trisciani will be good HCs at some point in the near future.
I’m not too big of a Lembo fan...seem to remember out of control players on the sideline.
Bell, Hunt and Cronic, in that order, would probably be the top of who I’d like to see.

So there is upside to Lembo. If he were to return, he would be here for as long as he is successful. He is a great community guy. No other coach had the connection with the local community or faculty that he did. He has learned a lot since he left. He was integral in fundraising for the Field House. His coaching circle has probably expanded since he left Elon. He has good relationships with the President and the BoT.

Someone asked me my thoughts. And honestly have no idea who is on the radar. Good thing is might already have a list from last time haha. But really Cig was not on anyone’s radar and he got it and did a good job so I’m not sure it would have to be someone that is close in terms of geography.

Let's say this happened to Elon 2 years from now and We need to hire from within. Our assistants are in demand a guy like Folmer & Trisch probably left the year before it would be wise to give him a shot He will get somewhere else. Our signing class and momentum culture change will have gone for naught if they (Blank) takes it to a search committee. He should have seen this coming and had head hunters already engaged. 43 years ago Red Wilson left and they promoted Jerry Tolley that worked okay. Ya think?
Success is when preparation meets opportunity. Hire Trisciani NOW!!!

First choice is Lembo. Second is Triscianni. It’s simple.
Out of control players? One incident. That’s it. Assistants? Why did all of them basically follow him to Ball St?
We need to move fast to secure the recruits. The longer this goes on, the more damage to the class.
As for a stepping stone, I get that. We should think of ourselves as one. No problem with that. However, moving in-league is another thing.

How long will this search take? 1-3 days 1 week 2-3 weeks Until January
My pessimism leans towards the last option.

This is not set in stone but word is Cignetti wants to take a good number of the staff with him. Im sure they are getting a pay raise.

How long will this search take? 1-3 days 1 week 2-3 weeks Until January My pessimism leans towards the last option. Usually, about 4-5 days - 10 days. It is a variable process, due to many moving parts, availability, other potential suitors, bowl games, playoffs, contract review and timelines.
