Folks, this is potentially the best recruiting class we’ve had as a whole. Inside one week I’ve gone from totally discouraged to really charged. We really have a bright future. I understand this is a HS video but this a 5 minute highlight of Gee Witherspoon they were 31-1 the last 2 seasons and He was TD machine but He was right down the Hill from ASU. This guy should fit right into our offense as should 4 or 5 guys. www.hudl.com/profile/5639549/McKinley-Witherspoon watch and enjoy.

Like you said, this is a HS video so there may not be anyone on the opposing D that is the caliber or speed of a CAA LB or DB. But having said that this kid looks to have a little of everything. He follows blocking for running between the tackles, good acceleration for running off tackle and he even caught a pass or two out of the backfield. I didn’t see much need for a spin move in this video but he’ll need one in the CAA. He also needs to develop a stiff arm. But yes, he has a lot of tools.

Agreed, its a high school video and the defenses don't look very stout but wow the stats: Junior year 118 carries, 2018 yards, 42 TDs (some kick or punt returns in there) Senior year 127 carries, 2057 yards, 41 TDs. Assuming the yardage is rushing only (not all purpose) that's like 16-17 yds per carry - crazy. Agreed he has skills and he has good field sense in moving around people and finding open space. He will be interesting to watch.
Even more amazing is the offense was pretty sophisticated for high school with double/triple options, lots of deception, huge holes, line going one direction and he going the other. I wouldn't mind seeing more of that in our offense this season.

Late signing day transfer - Based on tweet from player (and retweet from Elon coach), Ty Sponseller (LB, 6-2, 220) has transferred to Elon from UCinn Bearcats. He will have 2 years of eligibility here at Elon. He was a three star prospect in HS and was number 2 WLB on the Bearcat depth chart. He appeared in 11 games in 2017 with 5 tackles and 13 games in 2018 with 10 tackles and 1.5 sacks. His brother is JP Sponseller, recent Elon baseball signee. Welcome Ty and JP to Elon!
