A random off season topic.
Does Elon look at transfers? I have heard rumors that Elon would not allow teams to take a grad transfer or a transfer that would only be there a year or two.
Does anyone know any truths to this? I know we have a couple on the roster and a couple in the past but just curious more than anything.

We do take transfers. They just have to be a good fit. No academic issues or legal/campus issues.
Baseball has always had a few on the team each year, especially JuCo.
They just have to make sense. You don’t want to build a program around them. It causes gaps in backfilling with depth.

Have any ever been a grad transfer? In terms of football/basketball have any of these transfers been a junior or senior with a year or two left? I see some schools in FCS level getting some transfers from FBS but Elon I do not believe has been one of those teams.

Hmm, you seem to be confusing a grad transfer with a regular transfer. As to FBS to Elon transfers, two years ago we got from FBS (Army) Tyler Campbell and he played 2 years here using all his remaining eligibility. During this last early signing period we got a transfer from UCinn with 2 years eligibility. Elon hasn't officially announced it yet though one coach retweeted the player's message. My guess is he will be announced on Feb 6th with the rest of signees and any new coaches. We tend not to have that many FBS to FCS transfers here but schools like JMU have many FBS to FCS transfers.
As for graduate transfers, that's where a player who was probably redshirted graduated after 4 years but has one year of eligibility left. At the FBS level a grad transfer (FBS to FBS) is likely because the player does not have to sit out a year. Great example was Russell Wilson leaving NC St to go to Wisconsin for his final year of eligibility. SAme for an FCS to FCS grad transfer (For example Elon's Tom McQuire to SD for his grad year). Usually grad transfers go FBS to FBS or FCS to FCS. Also matters if player can enter a graduate level academic program at the school. Not sure if Elon has had any Grad transfers here recently.

I get the difference was just asking if we really get many transfers as well as since the grad transfer has become more and more popular if we have ever got one of those.
I knew about Campbell from Army. Who is the kid from Cincinnati? I remember McQuire leaving for SD. I was looking at this whole Transfer Portal thing and noticed Delaware and Richmond got a couple kids from FBS schools but honestly have not idea if they even played at their previous schools.
Was just curious about this... a decent out of season topic. One or two transfers can be game changers at this level.

We normally have a couple of tranfers on our roster every year like a few years back like 91 MARQUISE WRIGHT transfer from Rutgers him #300 lb DL really plugged up some holes. Ball St DB Chris Blair started 4 seasons for us. TE Chris Rowe from Chas.South

I forgot about Wright. Blair came with Skrosky from Ball State. So I guess we have had some more than I thought. I noticed we had a couple transfers from Hobart College too.
