Got a 9-1 Friday night win over Lafayette to start the season off.
Brnovich had a solid start - 5.2 with 1 hit and 1 earned run while striking out 9. He did walk a couple and hit a couple. Bullpen guys went 3.1 and only walked 2 with no hits allowed. Pitching is going to carry the team this year.
Hitting was there but only 2 extra base hits out of the 12 total hits. Drew 4 walks as well. If they can find a way to hit a bit this team could be the best in a while. CAA contenders for sure.
I don’t think Lafayette is any good though. In a weak Patriot League and picked to finish last.

Team's been playing pretty well. Pitching has been pretty solid and the bats decent. Now 5-2 with ECU on Wed and Wagner over the weekend.
Not a criticism, but that 6th inning last night was kind of crazy. They gave up 6 runs on 0 hits. Had 6 walks, 2 HBP, an error and a couple of wild pitches. I imagine other similar situations have occurred in college baseball, but couldn't find anything comparable in the majors.
Go Phoenix!

Yeah, that’s not normal to do without a hit. Maybe without that inning could have taken both from Wake, who is a top 25 team currently. Good to see them competing with the better teams because that was missing in the last year or 2.
