What the heck was up with our special teams and McNair today?
Probably should have won this one by 3 TDs!
A win is a win and The Citadel seems pretty good, but geez!!!

Let’s call a spade a spade. Hats off to the offense for winning the game. Defense for playing well enough to win. Those are the positives.
Now the negative..special teams. Responsible for 3 touchdown drives and setting up D with terrible field position on 2. It’s not personnel...it’s formational and Citadel coaches exploited it. Lost last week’s game because we couldn’t cover punts and almost threw this one for us. We need to figure something out quick.
Based on offense and defense performance, we should have won this game by 40+.
On to Richmond...

Based on offense and defense performance, we should have won this game by 40+. On to Richmond... Yeah! We had a crucial win today over a team that pulled out all the stops to stay in this game. We were bigger-stronger, hit harder and made plays. We out rushed a rushing team by over a hundred yards. Davis Cheek was awesome as he hit several open receivers that made yards after the catch. AND THEN CAME OUR SPECIAL TEAMS> yes We had two blocked kicks that gave them excellent field position and also gave up an on-side kickoff GEZZE LOUISE that in itself could be enough to change the outcome of many games. But We pummeled their defense although We had too many procedure penalties that (Gosh-Darn) option offense really ran time off the clock and they went for it on 4th and several. We really tackled well and they completed 4 passes that ALL counted. I am hopeful Our Staff can make better strides in our special teams play. We need them to play much better it is hard to play worse. We CAN fix those areas I am confident. |

Cheek looked good today. Got the ball out quicker and ran which makes things even better. I commend the o-line for not allowing any sacks this week but you can’t have 25 yards in penalties for false start. They need more discipline. Defense was pretty good due to the fact the Citadel got the ball so close to the goal line. Now, OMG something has to change this week. Hunter has had several years to perfect his part of the game. He gets into a game and then loses his mind. I would expect the same thing from any position on that team. If it’s not your day then change something during the game we don’t have to wait until the next week. It’s always next man up. It’s about what’s best for the team not the player.
