Is it Possible Elon makes the playoffs at 6-5 & 5-3 in the conference? Depending on William & Mary next week. An Elon win and a William and Mary loss could put Elon at 3rd by themselves but with JMU receiving no bid, Elon could potentially get 2nd bid from CAA based on conference record?

The chance of getting in the playoffs at 6-5 without the team winning the conference championship is almost zero.
The bad Wofford loss and extremely slim win over Campbell are the complete resume killers, and likely would have been if the team were 7-4 as well. Wofford is 1-9 this year.

I understand but believe the CAA is a multi-bid league. Also, Elon’s last playoff appearance was a 6-5 overall record. Just trying to hold on to hope I guess

I understand but believe the CAA is a multi-bid league. Also, Elon’s last playoff appearance was a 6-5 overall record. Just trying to hold on to hope I guess Elon got in with a 6-4 record and was ranked in the top 20 when they got that bid you mentioned. A hurricane forced numerous game cancelations for 1 weekend all up the east coast. Due to that, special considerations were made for teams that played 10 game schedules. Elon that year FINISHED 6-5….the 5th loss being in the first round of the playoffs. Think that was also the year went into #2 JMU and broke their years long home winning streak. It was kinda hard to deny a 6-4 team the playoffs with that type of marque win. This season, Elon isn’t ranked and is currently not receiving any votes for the top 25. If it’s a multiple bid league, it would likely be Nova, JMU, Rhode Island, and William & Mary (if they get to 7 wins). If…big if…Elon finishes at 6-5, I would be dumbfounded if they got a bid to be honest. There are zero marque wins, and a loss to a team that only has one single win. Besides all that, I’m pretty sure JMU is playoff eligible.

JMU can receive a playoff bid, just not the auto. They will get in as an at-large.

Also even with a big win on the road yesterday, we fell in Massey ratings. Currently at 51.

Elon is home for the playoffs, no way around that, but Massey has us at 48. Up 2.

Elon has had the best QB in the CAA over the last couple years. Wish they could have been able to get to the playoff with him.

I've only been following Elon football for 3 years so I don't know the answer to this, but did they normally finish over .500? Did they usually make it to the playoffs? Because they are 11-16 in the last 3 years that my kid has been attending school there.

The program was really successful in NAIA years back, having won back to back national titles….
