Can't believe we're playing WVWC, they were not even a decent D-II team. Yes, we're playing USF but otherwise it is the weakest schedule in a long time.2007 Stony Brook and WVWC are Mars Hill schedule teams. Liberity should be our low end team or at least a decent D-II. Maybe the open date will be a representative team.

I have to agree. Let's see we lost Towson, Coastal, A&T and Presby and picked up WVWU, Stony Brook, and Liberty. 2007's schedule is very disappointing.

GRIPE, GRIPE, GRIPE, GRIPE, GRIPE! (OK, but I do have to agree with you. I think we should have kept Towson. Presby is an up and coming team that in a few years should fit well into the FCS and I'll miss A&T if only for the band. But, I have to believe there is method in the madness). Liberty should be a good replacement for Presby.
I'm planning to make it down to the USF game. Is there anyone else planning to make the trip at this point?

Not griping just questioning if this is the best way to move the program forward. If we win those three sucker games, then it isn't that big of deal but if we lose one of them, then it hurts recruiting and lowers the morale of the the team. Certainly, if we blow out the two very obvious weaklings then it's not to bad but if they play us close or heaven help us, we lose to one of them!!!! Last year's schedule wasn't a stretch for us but ok for a rebuilding year but why lower our expectations this year. Again, we do play USF, that is good.

I have to agree. Let's see we lost Towson, Coastal, A&T and Presby and picked up WVWU, Stony Brook, and Liberty. 2007's schedule is very disappointing. Coastal was a home/away series. A&T wanted out I can't figure out why the Towson series is over, I liked playing them. The sked is somewhat is weak, and if we finish say 8-3, we probably WON'T make the playoffs.

Understood, But, looking at it from an optimists' perspective, Liberty should present more of a challenge than Presby. I don't look at them as being a sucker game. The A&T game loss was a A&T decision. While Stony Brook & WVWC don't seem to be up to par, they may be confidence builders and are home games. I think that most fans would rather have an easy home game rather than a tough contest far away. Let's not forget that we have one b!tch of a conference schedule against some (sure to be) top 25 FCS ranked teams. You never know, Coastal may not have the strength of Liberty this year. They lost 38 seniors / most of their starters.
In addition, we continue to have more & more top caliber teams over the next few years like USF, GA Tech, Richmond, etc.

I hope that we get rid of the DII teams as well. Thinking ahead to 2008 for a second, what is our OCC schedule? Isn't is Wake, Richmond, William & Mary and either Stony Brook or Liberty? Now that group plus our Southern Conference foes would make up a difficult, but very pleasing schedule.

one thing is for sure, were heading in the right direction. Now that we hosted SC at home what do you think the chances of getting Ohio State or Florida at home get the no 1 for football lol

Firebird...am hoping to make it to Tampa for the USF game for the game and to visit Florida friends. Believe the Phoenix Club is putting together a total package for the weekend, too.
