Great job by these five teams. Have to give Nestor credit for the way his team did in the classroom.
Five Elon Athletics Teams Earn NCAA Academic Awards 4/22/2009
INDIANAPOLIS, IND. – The Elon University men’s basketball, women's cross country, women's golf, softball and volleyball squads are among NCAA Division I teams receiving public recognition awards for their latest multi-year Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores, the NCAA announced Wednesday. The five Phoenix squads rank in the top 10 percent of all teams in the nation in their sports. “Having these five sports receive special recognition for academic excellence, along with having all of our sports achieve higher marks than the NCAA requirements, speaks volumes to the fact that our athletics department is totally committed to the academic experiences of our student-athletes,” Elon Director of Athletics Dave Blank said. “We continue to be proud of the fact that our student-athletes and coaches are very committed to the academic mission of Elon University.” The APR provides a real-time look at a team’s academic success each semester by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete. The APR includes eligibility, retention and graduation in the calculation and provides a clear picture of the academic culture in each sport. For the third consecutive year, the Phoenix women’s cross country, women’s golf and volleyball squads earned perfect scores.

I can't say how proud I am of our Athletic Department and our Student Athletes for doing things the right way! Sure a few more wins here and there would be nice, but its very refreshing in this day and age to see a program working hard on and off the filed, doing things by the book, and keeping up the good Elon name!
Go Phoenix!
