I saw the new soccer stands under construction. They're so cute and tiny. So precious, almost like dollhouse bleachers.
I hear capacity there will be about 125, but I don't think that many can squeeze into such small stands.

They are the old baseball bleachers.

And I've heard more like capacity of 250 - 300. For purists like me, we stand all game long, so you won't catch me in the stands. But for those that want to sit, this is a nice addition. Babysteps.

So I saw the pictures and I heard your guys comments. Has anyone seen it in person yet completed. It looks to me like it is a big brick mass and actually does not look very appealing at all, it would have been better looking if they went wider and not as high, but oh well. I want to know from someone who has seen it, does it fit in down there or is it more an eye sore and some big brick mass in the middle of all the green? org.elon.edu/athletics/FreezeFrame/ruddfield/

Was out there the other day, it's a little strange to see, but not bad at all.

Not seen in person but I kind of liked the photos that are posted on web-site...think it definitely looks better than the old bleachers. I assume they will pave the areas on each side for standing, which would probably make it look more finished...Elon always does a superior job making things look good, imagine this will not be an exception.

IMO if soccer keeps doing well and the stands fill up they could expand them pretty easy. just take the top part off the bricks down on each side and add more seating. The downside to this and these stands is the step forward towards paid ammision.

I have seen the staqnds in person (even sat in them). While the structure is small, it solves an immediate problem where you now have around 300 seats available and those that want to stand on the fence line won't be in their view. The structure was also built with the possibility of expansion in mind. If the men keep winning Socon titles and the Women get into the top tier of the conference, we should see a spike in attendance. Plus if never hurts to bring some quality teams to campus to play, which is again the case this year. Both Clemson and UNC are coming to Elon.

Are they planning on one of those games to be in Rhodes if not both of them.
I would be surprised if the UNC game wasnt in Rhodes.

The Clemson game will be in Rhodes as that is the Jimmy V Foundation game. I would guess that the UNC game would be in Rhodes as well, but am not positive. A shame actually, I know Dareen prefers the confines of Rudd field.

A shame actually, I know Dareen prefers the confines of Rudd field. I know this is true, as far as a "pitch" goes Rudd Field is far superior to that of Rhodes stadium for soccer. But when you bring in the big boys you want the atmosphere and thats what Rhodes has to offer. Should be great games, especially with the team getting better and better every year. We also have some solid recruits coming in to build on a Conference Championship last year.

I'm impressed with the schedule they manage to put together each year. This year's should be equally as challenging with 4 ACC teams and West Virginia (not sure how good they are).
The stands are definitely a step in the right direction and seem like a good first step to growing the soccer programs. I think the stands look good from the pics. Haven't seen them in person.
Go Phoenix!

West Virginia has a very good team. I believe they got knocked out of the NCAA playoffs last year by UNCG.
Both coaches prefer to play at Rudd as they typically only get to practice once on Rhodes before they play a match in the stadium. Both coaches love the atmosphere that Rudd has and prefer to play their games on that pitch.

Even better news...the new soccer stands will be expanding. Not exactly sure how much more will be built, or when, but evidently the size wasn't big enough for some.
