Uh, I think they were joking about the Christian part.

Keep in mind many of our fans are college-aged guys. They are not above mischief ... and neither was Jerry if you want to put everything in perspective. To cast aspersions about the spiritual well being of a student body based ona few posts on a message board is probably not wise. I would think someone form a school who were known as the Fighting Christians would understand that concept. Truthfully, I could care less about "Jerry." Not to cause a stir, but just wanted to put the point out there. Just pointing out that the copnversation wasn't "Christianlly." While we're on the subject of sterotyping, you had 2 in that post

This is not directed at any Elon poster, just something I felt like saying:
Anything we do that people don't like is considered not Christianlike by them. The stuff making fun of the Tusculum player was considered wrong, even though none of us said a single cuss word the entire night and it was clean fun to which members of his own team were laughing. Shippensburg fans complained about us not being Christians because we didn't sit down the entire game, or we would make fun of someone doing something stupid. I'm used to it. It's ok for any other school in the country to go out and get piss drunk before a game, throw stuff at players, cuss them out the entire time, and people call it "a tough place to play." However, when Liberty kids (me in particular) decide to get a little creative, work a little harder, etc it's considered not Christian-like and people talk crap about it, even though it's done while being completely sober, without cussing, and all in fun. After every game we are polite to everyone we see, telling them to have a safe trip home and good game and things of that nature, but yet because we claim to be Christians we're not allowed to do any of the fun stuff. It's a pet peeve of mine.

ill be the first to say ive seen the most christian person i know go off on a police officer at a game. He is one of the Biggest Elon fans. Is always fun to have a little fun at the games. I also could jeer the other team/fans even in there own den, (I got balls) but after the game ill have a friendly conversation with them even after they kicked our arses. I dont think the poster ment much by his comment it was more or less a jeer back at the gf. nothing wrong with either just a friendly convo b4 game time.

Truthfully, I could care less about "Jerry." Not to cause a stir, but just wanted to put the point out there. You are certainly not in the minority but our school is forever tied to our founder. I don't agree with everything posted on our board as SJ would certainly point out. But since I know the context of the discussions I reserve my judgement. The stereotypes were used to point out the fallacies of using generalizations. Seriously some good-natured banter adds a little extra spark to the gameweek. Let's enjoy it.

Yeah, I'll be in the usual spot. I'm flying solo tomorrow...Liberty was a tough sell for my friends. Oddly enough I had no problem finding someone for my other App ticket. I'll keep an eye out for you guys. Have a safe trip. Go Phoenix!
