post works better in the baseball thread rather than the basketball one If we can sweep wake and take 2 of 3 from western we should be on the bubble again

I think they would have to get to 35 wins to be considered for an at large bid, IMO. They played a brutal schedule, but didn't come up with any big wins OOC. BUT, they did take both the series against CoC, App and Samford........the series losses to Davidson and Wofford are really hurting their chances at the moment.

35 wins would be winning out - not sure if that is going to happen. I think it's obviously, but the best thing would be best to just continue to win as many as possible down the stretch. I would like to think 7-2 would be enough combined with not getting swept out of the SoCon tourney, which would provide a chance for another victory against CofC or App.
2 games against Wake and one more against ECU give a few chances for quality wins against currently top 50 RPI teams. EP is right about the Davidson/Wofford series - if we had won both of those I think maybe Elon would be on the inside rather than outside - both of those teams are 150 or less, so bad losses.

If I had to place a bet right now...we will be out. Tough schedule but no signature wins out of the league and we lost those three bad series. Tough to take but that is how I see it. Got to win the league and the tourney to get in.

A couple things to note:
SOS: 28 Elon has the most top 50 wins in the conference (though they've played about twice as many against the top 50 as anyone in the conference) 31 of the 48 games have been played against the RPI top 100 - with 4 games left against the top 100

I think a strong finish gives the team a real possibility of getting in still. Strong to me means winning both of the remaining conference series and beating ECU to get another quality win. Then winning a couple games down in Greenville.

we would have to get to at least the semi's if not the championship game to get an at-large. Anything else i think we are out.
