Caleb Bradshaw : 6'2", 245 lbs. OL/DL. Courtland, Va. He is looking good, but very raw. Needs about 30 more good lbs. We do need to get him into Elon camps and on campus. Some things that I noticed, that could help. When at OL once he engages, his feet stop. I seen at least 3 pancake blocks that could have been had but the block wasn't finished. Also standing up in the first step out of the stance. On DL, the stance was not allowing for enough explosion off of the ball. Needs to pop that OL in front of him and let them know he's there. Now the good. High motor. Everything I mentioned can be coached out. Looks as if has a tremendous upside. If this was a 2014 senior, there would be alot of work to be done. Since he is 2016, still plenty of time to run the stadium stairs and hit the sled. If we are watching the same issues in 2016, then there is an issue. (I am sticking his name away for my 2016 recruits, Elon is watching).

My thoughts too! Any ideas on how to get him to continue his feet driving through the block? Does great on the sled but so accustomed to being bigger and stronger than opponents he reverts back to arm strength come game time. The standing up on first step is also dependent upon his opponents size/strength....if he gets manhandled a little in game situations, which is not often, he drops butt and stays over his core. On DL....should he be down in 4pt with feet further back?? not my specialty but i can mention it to him. I ask because ive never had a kid with his drive and serious intent on playing college ball. He's determined, stays around school in weight room, etc. Gentle giant type kid who is always smiling. The kid asked me to try and get him noticed somehow. Elon was just a school he's interested in so i came on here.

^^^ in reply to Caleb's OL blocking. Some kids that are larger do rely on there weight and leverage and in turn stop chopping the feet when they block. Tell him his target is the lower sternum. That should be his initial contact point. He should then drive up. This in turn will raise the defender, causing a backwards shift in weight. Caleb will follow the defender to the ground.....Pancake block. This will also teach Caleb to finish, he will naturally start driving through defenders. His challenge will be to get low enough to drive through on some defenders. This will make him better. On the DL. He can use the 3 technique, but he needs to have a strong start. Place his back legs in a runners starters position. Dig in with the toe and power through with the other calf/ foot. As the transfer of weight happens engage the OL with the forearm. The center of gravity will be maintained through the shoulders. Once he masters this he will have an extreme first step that will make everyone take notice. I hope this helps. Looking forward to more videos on him.

As with a coaching change recruiting slows down. Recruits are curious to see what is going to happen and new coaches recruit players they already know. I really hope Elon is not sitting out the huge recruiting weekend coming up. Why is it huge? Dec 14th is NC High school Championship day. Alot of players in a condensed area for evaluation of playing in actual game conditions. Games are in Raleigh or Winston Salem.
4AA- Wake Forest vs Charlotte Mallard Creek 4A- Scotland County vs Dudley 3AA- Southern Durham vs Crest 3A- Havelock vs Concord 2AA- TW Andrews vs Monroe 2A- SW Onslow vs Shelby 1AA- James Kenan vs West Montgomery 1A- Plymouth vs Murphy

fwiw 1-a Power Murphy is coached by legendary Elon Player/coach Alum David Gentry maybe the winningest coach currently in North Carolina with well over 300 wins.
Elon does have a history of fine high school coaches wish administration could honor these folks publically

(((( Hot News )))) A prospect has placed Elon on his interest list
Justin Edwards: 6'2", 225 lbs, 4.7 40. DE / possible LB. 32" vertical, 335 lbs - bench, 455 lbs squat. The high school team that Justin plays on is loaded with talent, Aaron Harris (3 star LB). He goes up against top talent and this makes him better everyday. Nose for the ball. Listed as 23rd DE in Ga. 30 tackles, 10 TFL's, 2 sacks. Can put on 20 more lbs of good weight. Would look good in the maroon and gold. Now that coaching is settled, lets go get him.

Nat Dixon is also being listed as a basketball recruit awaiting commitment. 3 star WR in FB. 2.5 star G in BB. I don't care how we get him here, just get him here. He is a game changer. Maryland Terps was visiting but have now backed off according to reports.

I use a number of personal contacts on the east coast from my football days and coaching days. Elon still has two coaches out there keeping in contact with recruits. They may just be making phone calls, but there is still something going on. This may have been done by the administration. I think Mattes will be the only one retained though.
