All the "D" needs is confidence, I hope they got it. Wofford I think is over rated but We will have to be tough vs the option up front stop the dive first or WC will gut us. Coppedge is too talented not to be a fumbler. back to back games in SC nice schedule.

Wofford seems tough to figure out. They beat GSU, then lose 3-0 to Gardner Webb in a monsoon.
Last week, they dropped 55 on Presby, a team that Furman only beat by 1.
In the recent past, we've played Wofford better at their place than our own.

Watched the game on ESPN, and was very excited to see the guys make some big plays and rise to the occasion. Plays like Wrightenberry's pick six are what makes the difference between winning and losing in college football. When the teams makes big plays, you win, its that simple. However, to fumble on the 1 is just unacceptable, no matter how hard the hit was. Even if we end up not scoring a TD, short FG's like that are exactly what our Freshman kicker needs to get comfortable out there and start capitalizing on his tremendous leg strength. Speaking of kickers, we have to give tons of credit to Freshman punter Petroni. He had punts of 54 and 60 yards in the last 7 minutes to pin FU inside of their own 10 and quell their momentum. Huge. Wofford can light it up, but has also been uncharacteristically inconsistent this year (3-0 to GW really? ). The one thing that I saw even through the TV on Saturday was that it seemed like the boys were having fun flying around and competing. Even when Furman broke off big plays and started to come back, the energy and sense of urgency of our guys seemed to remain. To continue winning, our guys need to play all 60 minutes with that same energy and enthusiasm, regardless of good and bad plays. Very excited to see how our new DC attacks the triple option. Having played under Coach Swep and with the majority of this team, I truly believe they have what it takes to win every game they play. However, just like any other team, we have the ability to lose if we do not play with energy and do not make big plays.

Anybody have an update on BJ's injury? Will he be back for Wofford? I asked about BJ after the win on Saturday and was told he had been cleared to play against furman but was only going to be used if absolutely necessary. He is expected to play against Wofford.

I also watched the game. I noticed the attitude they played with. It looked like they were having fun out there. Regardless of what our record says, Swepson has not lost this team. A huge sign in my book. We still need to make some plays but I was surprised how they bounced back vs. Furman.
Couple of notes:
• I wonder how Coppedge's mom feels after he fumbled again? There is no denying he has a problem holding on to the ball. That fumble totally changed the game. We were fortunate to have our D step up when they were needed most.
• I'm a little worried at our lack of adjustments on offense and defense during the second half of Coastal and Furman. We obviously made some great moves vs. App but the last two weeks have been head-scratchers.
• Kudos to Coach Mattes and the O-Line. These guys are playing really well. We have some young guys doing a really good job. We are not getting dominated and are actually pushing some people around.
Woffy is going to be a tough game. Should we win there, things could get very interesting down the stretch.

• I wonder how Coppedge's mom feels after he fumbled again? There is no denying he has a problem holding on to the ball. That fumble totally changed the game. We were fortunate to have our D step up when they were needed most. She probably felt badly for him just like I'm sure she did for each of the others. Hopefully Swepson learned something about calling players out in the newspaper though. The point of the discussion last week wasn't that his fumbling isn't a problem. It's that all of this "our team is family" and "all of the other players are your brothers", that Swepson talks of continuously, didn't seem to apply when he was PO'd. I've got no problem with a player being verbally spanked, just not in public.
