So the team heads to the 'Whee for WCU's homecoming. Despite playing horridly in several games this season, WCU played Wofford extremely tough, just as we did. Everyone again is predicting Elon to lose, and this may be the last winnaable game of the season. Here's a quote from the WCU board:
"This is an absolute must win. This is our home game, we have played by far a tougher schedule and they lost to App. This is where the season is turned around. Prediction- We hold Elon to 100 yards rushing and 200 passing. WCU- 200 rushing and 225 passing. Final WCU- 28 Elon- 14."
Bottom line, we have an offense that is pissed off after playing a fairly good game against Chatty. They could not put the ball in the endzone, though they moved the ball well. Chatty is probably the most balanced team we will face all year, and the team responded fairly well. Holding them to 20 points is pretty big, WCU gave up 42 to them.
The Cats aren't giving up too many passing yards a game, but they give up a lot on the ground. Hopefully the guys will come in hungry for a win, and come out on top. This is a must win, and our guys have been close over the past 2 weeks......

Right now I'd have to give the edge to WCU simply because of their QB. He is a true dual threat & ran us over last year. Now if our Offense finds a way to play more than one half of the game, I give the edge to us. But, so far that hasn't happened. WCU will be hungry for a win, as they have not had a SoCon win in several years.

WCU are the losers of 26 straight SoCon games. This is a game on paper that we should win. However, I have a horrible feeling about this game.
To me, this is the biggest game of the year. Not just because it is the next one - but because it is a real measuring stick for the program. Can we win the games we are supposed to eight weeks into the season and deep into the tenure of Swepson?
I miss the days of looking at the polls and trying to see if we have a chance at making the playoffs. Take me back to 2009!!!!!!

I also have a horrible feeling about this one.

With regard to the post above, I don't think WCU can hold us to 100 yards rushing. My guess is that we roll up 200 +/- yards rushing but less than 200 yards passing. I think Swepson will want to show our ability to run the ball on the worst rushing D in the league. Problem is, I think Spier and Mitchell will try to do the same to us. Broken pass plays with a dual threat QB and read sweeps have proven to be our undoing in many cases this and last year. The new 3/4 D seems to be doing a pretty good job against the run. Again, If we have some O scoring support to the D for at least 3 quarters, I like our chances. If not, WCU breaks their streak against us instead of App.
