I realize most folks are ready to move on but what would a phan board be without a little game day commentary. Statistically speaking, today's game is not a very good match-up. I suppose with our defensive stats, there are not very many good match-ups that are possible:] Georgia Southern leads the conference in scoring at 33.8 points per game... Georgia Southern is averaging a conference-leading 348.6 yards per game on the ground... ...but only 99.8 yards passing. The Phoenix are last in the conference in total defense, last in pass defense, and eighth in rushing defense. Keys to the game. Offense will need to have pedal to the metal the ENTIRE GAME with an all out air attack. Swepson dive play up the middle needs shelved for this game. More roll-outs, more slot/speed options. Defense will need to put eight men in the box and play disciplined assignment football. Blitzing will not be effective against the run and will only lead to big running plays for GA Southern(i.e.vs Geo Tech). This will be a high scoring game and like most of our games this year, we have the talent to compete. Need player leadership to step up with some heartfelt passion. Coach needs to watch Wofford/Ayers half time talks and plagiarize heavily. Will we have the game plan and desire? If so, Elon hangs in there and pulls off the upset! ELON 41 - GEO Southern 34.

last time playing these folks for a long time the 3 year winning streak vs these was a program highlight... Pete's greatest goal outside of Play-off bid

Couldn't make it to the game...the only positive I've seen is it's the last of the season and hopefully for Swepson. One other positive, I suppose, we scored a touchdown in the second half for the first time in at least six games. Season over...on to hoops!

Again, well done Adam Smith, love the articles. www.thetimesnews.com/sports/elon-sports/frustration-filters-through-phoenix-elon-drops-home-final-to-georgia-southern-1.236140“What’s been hurting us are the explosive plays,” Elon coach Jason Swepson said, “It’s the same old story. We gave up big plays and it seemed like those big plays were on third down and right before the half.” Well, if you look at the stats, the big plays were all over the place. You, the coaches, again, failed to prep the team to stop them. Late scores by us don't count for anything really. Should be noted that GSU was playing the backup QB. We are now WORSE than where we were on week 2 and worse than we were 3 years ago. Fire Swepson.

Additionally, giving up big plays is only half of the problem. Scoring is the other. Of the 5 games played in the SoCon yesterday 20 points would've only won one of them. And Samford was contending with one of the top defenses on the nation.
I'd like to give kudos to coach Mattes and Coach Brown. Their two areas have performed very well in this otherwise abysmal year.

Again, I'll say.
We have a head coach with 0 Head Coaching or Coordinator experience who hired... Sherrod for DC who had no coordinator experience and Pincince who had Coordinator experience at one of the WORST CAA programs.
Not to bad talk Pincince, I think he's turned out ok (not great). But if you want a good program, you have to hire well. On paper, none of these 3 should even be considered for Coordinator jobs at SoCon, CAA, MVFC, Big Sky or Southland type schools.
