How about KC Keeler, former Delaware coach? Has won a national championship and has experience in the CAA.

Former Player. Know for a fact that Bateman wants the job and there is a movement among former players to try and influence his return. In my opinion, would be a great fit.

I tried to give Swepson a chance but this move had to be made. He record was terrible and if anything the program was going downhill instead of up.

Ive said it once and I will say it again. I wish him the best. Hes not a terrible guy just not the right person for our head coach. I agree with both of you. I got along with Jason and liked him but this was not the right fit. I am hoping for an experienced head coach with success at the CAA level. The JMU coach, London @ Virginia if he is fired....he was successful at Richmond before getting the VA job and he has good recruiting connections in the mid atlantic...just a couple of thoughts.....but someone with experience! Definitely not London. He won with Clawson's team and system. He wasn't at Richmond more than 2 years, maybe just one, I can't remember. When he actually had to build a team of his own he sucked. Sound familiar?

If Skrosky would make the move, he would be my first choice.

No way skrosky makes the move. He's about to be one of the hottest OC candidates in the nation. Also, he was never into the politicking (spellcheck hah) that comes with being HC.

I'd like Keeler as well. Rumor has it he is one of the top candidates at Albany. While Mickey Matthews has had some success, he's always seemed like a loose cannon to me.
The CAA move should really draw some interest from a lot of good candidates.
Go Phoenix!

Scott at ODU, Associate Head Coach and Offensive coordinator. Young Coach with a great offensive mind, but he might have bigger jobs in his future.

Micky Matthews wouldn't fit with Elon. He's flamboyant and abrasive, very different than any of our current coaches and AD.

We need a culture changer .... I do not know any or many top D-2 or HC's that would be looking to move up... interesting to see what assistants could be retained.
I'll nominate , Duke assistant and Elon Grad Jim Collins may be time to go after him?

Here's my list:
Jay Bateman - Ball State - A solid defensive coordinator, he's been trained inside a well oil machine that is Lembo's system. If we go after a coordinator, this is the type we should be after.
Mike Houston - Lenoir-Rhyne - Has turned a very similar type of school in the bottom of D-II into a national top 15 team. This guy seems to be an up and comer!
Jamey Chaldwell - Charleston Southern - Young, dynamic, coach that has turned a doormat Charleston Southern team into a well respected program this year. They have won some good games and seems their lack of scholarships caught up to them in the end.
Jim Collins - Duke - Always seems to be on these lists. Not sure why, I would think someone with his tenure would be higher in programs than he is.
Brian Scott - Old Dominion - Offensive Coordinator on a team that was built from scratch into success
Kerwim Bell - Jacksonville - Does well for 0 scholarships, the worst stadium in the NCAA

Swepson was supposed to be an excellent coordinator - that did not translate well in to being head coach...I would lean towards some successful head coach experience as a requisite for the job.

Was Swepson ever a coordinator?

Swepson was never a coordinator. And only one of his assistants was ever a coordinator. I think that's where your problem lies.

Pretty sure Swepson filled in for Dana Bible when he was out, and was considered to have done an excellent job.
