Lembo has interviewed with UConn and seems to be a front runner there. Might put us back in the same situation. Maybe, I don't think UConn is at the same level on the pay scale as Wake though. So, money, at least, might not be as big a factor.

I can confirm Bateman is interested. I also know some other interesting things that have happened. One is very interesting and could be very good for the fans. Spill the beans!

News Is Dave Clawson just accepted the Wake Forest job. Pete Lembo stays at Ball State...for now. Rumor wire is if Lembo was hired by WFU, his OC would be made HC at Ball State. His DC was more than likely going with him to WFU but we might have been able to pry him away. But I give you this news to say this. Warren Ruggiero is popping up as a candidate. Remember the name.

Ruggerio will most likely be Wake's OC as he may follow Clawson from Bowling Green He might just in BG as a Head coach also see Connell Maynor WSSU interviewing at NCCU though that might be a fit for Swepson... then again who hires coaches w/ losing records? Wake Forest!!!

I did see press reports taht Clawson hopes to bring Ruggiero with him. Sure wish our search had gone as quickly as Wake's did - the wait is hard on us die-hard fans.

Ruggiero is a great guy and an excellent OC and possibly the best QB coach around, but he wouldn't excell as a head coach. He is like a brilliant scientist with none of the BS it takes to be the CEO.

Hmm, lets see so far (without the rose colored glasses, focusing on HC experience) ...
REcent names on the boards .... Jay Bateman seems to be the message board popular choice ... basically a DC with a not so great HC run at Siena College (2000-2003, 5-35 MAAC)... will Blank hire him this time around? Warren Ruggerio - primarily an OC with no HC experience, Steve Shankweiler - primarily an OL coach/OC in FBS with no HC experience except HS Mike Houston - D-II HC experience, contract was extended thru 2016 on Jan, 2013 though - we probably can't buy him out. Kerwin Bell - FCS HC experience at Jacksonville (2007-present) with 48-31 overall and 38-17 PFL record. Name mentioned last go round, will Blank hire him this time around?
Meanwhile U Albany hired Greg Gattuso - FBS experience, successful 12 yr HC run (1993-2004) at Duquesne (97-32, MAAC) with 8 first place finishes.
My guess is hire will be someone we haven't mentioned yet - hopefully someone who has HC experience or at least wants to be an HC at Elon.

not to beat a dead horse but Jerry Moore could get us back on the right track the quickest except for age He could give us another 6 years if He is healthy Heck Swepson got a by-pass last season or are We forgetting that? I really want to see us have some positive results... and I do not care who does it... obviously the "Head-Hunters" are sorting this out and IMG marketing will have some input too. Who was that High School Coach at Independence & other schools that won all those state championships? Knox? Steve Logan? I give up!!!

Elon: CoachingSearch.com has learned that Vanderbilt offensive line coach Herb Hand, Wake Forest quarterbacks coach / passing game coordinator Tom Elrod, and FIU offensive line coach Steve Shankweiler were among the finalists for the Elon head coaching job. A source tells me the job has been offered to one of the candidates. Check back shortly.
Herb Hand would be a fantastic hire. Sounds like we'll know today!

I have never liked Jerry Moore's modus operandi at App. His ability was based on recruiting athletes that often were shunned by FBS programs for off the field issues. I think he would have a hard time being successful, long term, at a school like Elon. He left App in shambles with lots of infighting between the staff and players. His hiring at Elon would cause more problems than we want. This is all my opinion of course, but I think he belongs at a school that considers the players "athletes" rather than "student athletes".
