New to this forum. Was wondering if anyone watched tonight's scrimmage.

Adam Smith was tweeting. Some notable injuries. Ugh.
No offensive at TD's either.

The Times News article about the scrimmage didn't sound very promising...

We can't even score on ourselves! Same thing happened in the spring game. Either we have a great defense or...

There are plenty of things to be alarmed about at this point but not scoring on own D is not one of them...Defenses are always ahead of the O in preseason and spring... O is in serious install mode, the D has install but not as much as O... Also- don't you think the D picks up on O tendencies after seeing the same concepts day after day by the same personnel... one scrimmage in the rain- no need to panic.... yet

Next scrimmage is Saturday. We should have a better sense of the offense then.

Didn't see the scrimmage but check often with my Elon contacts .... still in the jungles of Yucatan ....
Concerned that Quinn has not looked good so far
The Frosh QB from Indiana is looking better (I am a Hoosier, gotta root for him)
I still have hope that we will surprise some people this year, the guys are still learning new systems

Did Loughery get reps? If so, how did he look? Why no mention of him in the Times News article covering the scrimmage?

Quinn looks the best out of all the QB's. He will start. According to some of the players, they have seen improvements in Quinn and Loughery.

Thanks. That's good to hear. I thought Quinn looked great at times last year but seemed reluctant/unwilling to take off and run when plays broke down. Not sure if his reluctance was due to the coaching philosophy or a lack of will. I would also like to see him be a more vocal leader this year and be ready to take charge and rally the troops when necessary.

If someone is going to the final scrimmage tonight, please post updates and thoughts. Only 7 days until Duke...

I was at the last scrimmage and I've been watching this board for over a year now. First of all I thought it was interesting the first offense couldn't move the ball against the second defense but the second offense moved the ball quite well against the first defense. Make's me wonder if the coaches are truly playing the best guys with the ones or are they developing for the future because they know they don't need to win.
My second observation is that it seemed to me that there were several players playing different positions on the offensive line. the OL has been a concern along with the entire offenses performance this spring and fall so I did some research because the OL was pretty solid last year. There are four guys that started last year. Sowell and MaGuire started all 12 games. Acha started 11 and Ingle started 2. Of those guys only Ingle is playing the same postion as last year. Sowell is at center and Acha is at guard. MaGuire isn't in the starting lineup, he's the backup center.
This might be a reason why the offense has looked poor this year but I can't explain why the second offense moved the ball against the second defense better than the first offense moved the ball against the second defense. If we can't move the ball against our 2's what do you think Duke will do to us?
