What are some questions you'd like Coach Skrosky to address at his radio show Thursday? Maybe we will send him a link to this thread...

I know. But I thought this might lead to interesting discussions among us here. Maybe not...

I'm not really sure what questions I'd ask Skrosky. I'd ask the team orthopedist when he thinks we'll get some of our injured players back. We're going to have a tough enough conference schedule, it would be good to be full force when we face A&T and Charlotte to at least solidify a 2-10 result. I know a lot of these injuries are freak/bad luck, but I'd like to ask Horton if there is anything we can do in the future from a conditioning standpoint to reduce these injuries. The only questions that come to mind are regarding a depth chart. But really those are just pure curiosity. I am looking forward to this season in a big way, but in a way I'm looking forward more to the 2015 and 2016 seasons. I'm afraid the boo birds will be flying high long about mid season and by the end of the season many will be calling for Skrosky's job. So, maybe I'd ask him how he views this season from a career standpoint. Is it a building year, or a throw away to get to off season recruiting for next year. With the exception of last year, it has been a long time since we've been without a super star player. We had Pope Lembo's first year, who could've been a big star IMO if he'd started with Ruggiero as a freshman. We had Riddle and Hudgins and then Mellette. Now we seem to be without a "special" player to "ralley the troops". I might also ask him who among the players he sees as future team leaders. Sowell and Spain are both reasonably good leaders, but they'll be gone after this season. Also, when Lembo first came, he was open and honest at the beginning of his first season that they would be trying some trick plays, and that there would be a lot of quick passes of 4-5 yards because our OL was so young. Will there be any of that to look forward to? It would also be interesting to know what he's telling the team about the upcoming Duke game. As someone said on this board a day or two ago, "this isn't the Duke that Richmond beat a couple of years ago". So what are his expectations, and what is he asking of the team going in to the game?

I would be curious to know the type of offense hes going to run. Run or pass heavy, our past coach being a running backs coach liked to run, Skrosky coached QBs could be a precursoer

Heard a clipping of an interview last night - said he and Blank liked to schedule the ACC games for "our fans"...I guess I would like to know how they see fan reaction from the shellshocking we have endured in the past ACC games - and how they motivate a team that may be demoralized from such lopsided defeats. Mike Quinn was also interviewed...and he indicated they are looking at this game as maybe Duke will look past little Elon...and I think they may have been true if they had a big name game the next week...but I really think Duke may approach it more from wanting to match the beatings we got from UNC and GA Tech, as they want to keep the respect they have earned the past few years. I know a lot of you like that we play ACC teams...but I still disagree with it. I would much rather develop a strong rivalry with some non-conference foe that we can open the season with each year..but I digress...back to the subject at hand. I would hope nobody would ask Skrosky how he sees this season in relation to his job - as all coaches need at least 3 yrs. (IMO) to really implement their program. I guess the one question I would really like to ask him - but wouldn't because I would not want the current roster to hear his response - but I would like to know how depleted he saw the team in comparison to how Lembo left it. How he would compare this team to what they had to work with in Lembo's first year. How he sees the talent - and whether he's had to modify his game plan to the talent he had.

Unless we recruit a real super star QB I think he'll need at least 3 years to get to the middle of a conference like the CAA. I agree that the question of "how badly did Swepson screw up our program and roster" question would be out of line, but I think asking him to compare the current team and program with the first year Lembo team is a fair question. In fact, he has been asked a similar question since he's been back. The last question of modifying the game plan to fit the talent is an excellent question IMO. Lembo absolutely did.

Playing Duke and other ACC schools like Duke & Wake Forest is that they pay us a lot of money #1 but We do not have that travel overnight expense. Think how much those Maine & New Hampshire trips are going to be costing? (another subject) Also We play ACC in others sports all the time. Mainly because of our location. Slowly as We appear on more schedules it gives us a higher name recognition. And that boils down to recruiting athletes and students. And donations.
As for the personnel We will almost always get the leftovers from the power 5 conferences.
A scholarship in a D-1 private school is worth a lot and going into a "Country Club" atmosphere like Elon sure can give some folks a sense of entitlement. We have a decent core of talented players on both sides of the ball but We have holes. My question to Coach is what are his 1,2,3 on developing players into his system?

I like a lot of the questions. As far as the QB position goes, Swepson wasted two scholarships at the QB position. That is a sin at the FCSlevel. Rice and Vasey were two of his three QB recruits and neither saw the field and are no longer on the roster. This hurts when you only have 63 scholarships to work with.
Christiansen was brought in on scholarship. The other freshman QB is a walk on. We have one committed for next year as well. Look for a one a year ($) approach to continue.
As for the ACC scheduling....I agree. It's a bad move. Sure the money is good - hence the reason. However, we are in a state, program, that is not ready to compete. The tough thing is these money games are now going to be harder and harder to fill as big 5 league teams will only want to play other FBS teams. I would not be surprised to see App back at some point with us getting $ from them.

Of course, I missed the show. Darn Meet the Teacher Night!
Anyone know if there's a podcast of the show somewhere?

If it was anything like his radio show last week, he stressed the 6 dropped passes (on the negative side of things). I don't remember that many, but he would know...
He also talked about how the defensive mistakes were very correctable.
In all, he was very upbeat.
