A chance for a win against a power conference team tomorrow night. They were picked 7th in the SEC preseason poll. Only beaten Valpo, Oral Roberts, Chaminade and SE Missouri St. Lost to every other power conference team they have played and also UMKC at home to open the season. They don't appear to be very high scoring and I think they are beatable.
It is going to be on SEC Network for anyone that gets that channel.

I hope this will be an interesting game to follow, but don't think this is a good match up. They have 2 big men receiving a good number of minutes.....

I think it will be a close game. We are not a good basketball team and were picked too high in the SEC preseason poll. Our two bigs, Keanau Post and Ryan Rosburg, have struggled quite a bit. And that is putting it mildly. They are combining for a little over 7 PPG with roughly that same number of rebounds per game. Rosburg is 4-21 from the free throw line too. Anyhow, I expect us to go small whenever we can. Since Elon hung close with Northwestern, I'd have to think that they repeat that performance in Columbia.

I looked at the roster and MPG, but didn't scan over to points or FGs. I also just looked backed at the Northwestern game. Our team in "small" in the post, but did hold the 7' center to 12 points. Our listed "center", Sabato, is 6'7". Your previous coach, Frank Haith, is an Elon grad.

I'm sick to my stomach. We had a chance to win this. Ugh.

Yup! That was another tough loss versus a major conference team.
It was though, pretty thrilling to see them come back from down 21 points to nearly take the lead in the last minute!
One big positive on the stat sheet: Elon out-rebounded Mizzou.

I was impressed with Elon. It would have been very easy to quit at halftime. The way they responded is a credit to Coach Matheny. I have a Lindy's College Basketball preview that I was reading that picked Elon 8th in the CAA this year. I think the Phoenix are better than that. Probably significantly better. Good luck in the new conference this year. I will be cheering for you all from Columbia, MO.

One more very positive thing, if you watched the game you saw we had LOTS of open looks, especially in the first half. Now if we can just start knocking down some of those first half shots we will be seriously good. I know it's a loss, but against teams like Northwestern and Mizzou I can't help but feel very good about our future.

Thanks, Mizzou Man
I was proud of the guys last night - too bad those shots at the end did not fall, but I do feel really good about our future.

All these close games with one of our best big men on the bench, Mr. Dawkins. How much of a difference would he make in these games? Ay update on his status.

Couple of things on last night.
* I loved the fight we put up. Never quit. * Our front court is very limited offensively. * We did well on the offensive glass. Our defensive rebounding hurt. They had too many second chance points. * Our freshman played like freshman last night. Not our best showing. * Eddy was fantastic. Great energy. * Blake battled. He just does not have a position that suits him well. He's not a strong enough shooter. Nice dunk, though.
Lastly, I thought we handled the end of game scenario very poorly. Way too quick of a shot coming out of the time out and the shot clock off. Should have played for the last shot with about 7-10 seconds left. We also had a time out to use. I was very disappointed in that quick shot.
Hopefully, we continue to get better. This team might win 10 games or more now.

Looking at the RPI prediction, I feel it's pretty accurate at the moment, having us at 13-16: realtimerpi.com/rpi_370_Men.htmlThe team may be able to steal a few more games in there to get closer to .500.
