Observations: 1. JMU SUCKS! At least half of the SOCON teams could take them on any day.
2. Elon has no intensity until it's too late.
3. When is Eddy going to have surgery? We need him healthy for next year.
4. We have a lot to look forward to for next year, but JMPew does too. They have no seniors to our three.
These guys have to get in the game earlier and not let up. JMU had one, yes I said ONE player. #40. Bryant needs to start over Samson. Samson has basketball amnesia until late in the first half. I can't get on Bryant too much, He IS a freshman. Not so forgiving with Samson, Sabato and Winters. (Although I like Winters' energy.) Demitre Thompson, Bryant and Eddy have bright futures. Lord please help us in finding a big post player. I'm starting to think Dawkins may be fading away. Is he even practicing?
I haven't lost all interest. But, we're going to have to give more effort than we've had in the last 3 games. I guess the team thought that since we beat W&M the rest of the league would just roll over.

Great finish guys but the recap.... 3 starters and 1 freshman go 8 for 31 combined and all four players get out rebounded by one JMU player. Live by the 3 die by the 3. No inside play. Different caliber of teams ^^^

Let me add my two cents:
1. This team does not have an identity. No point guard play to take control of the floor and the game. Assists are as important as scoring and we don't have a leader. Without a general on the floor to lead us we are going to continue to gl ounder. Need an in your face floor leader. Don't have one. Everybody wants to score nobody wants to lead
2. Winters and Sabato play as if they don't know esch other. Working together they can block out and move players out of the way to get some rebounds. Winters has the energy but fades out during play. Sabato is a body period taking up space.
3. We had a big man for 4 years and never took advantage. Philosophy is not going to change. The 3 pointers are the glamorous thing to do. Inside play is white collar work that gets no attention.
IMHO

Agreed. Big man four years and never utilized him. Tallest guy on the court and no guard could see him. Until the live by/die by disappears we will continue to have the 8 for 31 issue and no inside presence. There really is absolutely no excuse for wasting a post player and forcing him to score off trash.

Got to agree with all these posts. No point guard presence on the court. We need a point guard to control the flow of the game. Someone who has on court vision. Understands the flow and movement of the rock and wants to assist not score first. When the mojo is lost we need someone to kick some butt in a leadership way. Assists ARE a huge part of the game and just as important as scoring.

I have no problem with guard play dominating, but you have to have an effective big man done low to spread the opponent's defense. Your guards ALL have to be able to create their own shots and to be unselfish if there is a better shot. I like the fast break offense, but you've got to be able to finish. 38% shooting with guard dominated play, says two things, 1. No effective big man, and 2. Can't finish.

Right on brother. Haven't had a leader on the court since Chris Long. Attitude reflects leadership. Without leadership we are not working as a unit. Gonna continue to have games like this. Close but no W

Without a true point guard controlling our players we are an AAU team only looking out for me. Four years we had a post player and never went to the big dance because our guards were blinded by the three and not the pounding inside play. Great teams have a presence inside. Wasted 4 1000 point scorers You tell me we shouldn't have won a least 2 championships with that talent Three players playing pro ball and nothing to show for it. Maybe it's not the players. Just saying.

Certainly not ready to go there yet. We're getting open looks, just can't get the rock in the hole. Guard dominated play is common in mid-major play and lower. There aren't that many coordinated 6'10"+ players available. Still charged about the future, just disappointed at the lack of consistency this year. That's just what you get with 4 freshmen an a relatively inexperienced sophomore in the mix.

A couple of things:
Agree with most of the posts above. We had an opening in JMU zone in the paint near free throw line all night but our bigs could not hit that shot to save their lives. That was the weak spot of the JMU defense. One time they moved Kevin to the that area and he made a pass to Christian for a dunk plus 1. Only time I remember someone other than Winters/Sabato was given the rock in that position. The rest of this season we are going to live/die by our ability to hit the 3. We have no mid-range or post game. That said, we are still doing better than most expected and we will win some additional games. I hope they reshirt Dawkins and get him ready for next year and recruit a couple of athletic post players. IMHO.
