fc4life, don't know how they could get another QB today. That'd be a massive logjam of 3 freshman QBs - who would want to walk into that? There'd be a decent chance you'd never get to play.
The only real chance to get another QB is to get a transfer. But if they're gonna do that, time's a wasting...

We certainly hope it will be a great experience. Coach Skrosky and the staff did an exceptional job recruiting Trevor. If its any indication of what type of program they are building, my expectations are high.
I think this class was a very nice building block for the Phoenix.
Looking forward to getting to know you all.

Looking forward to getting to know you all. Allen Welcome! I believe you, Jo Ann and Trevor will have a great experience both with the school and the football program. I believe Trevor will be a part of the resurgence of a great football program. I and many of us old timers have a lot of faith in Skrosky. Plus with recruits like this, how could we go wrong?: Trevor Darby LB 6-3 190 Cornelius, N.C. / Davidson Day Video Linebacker Trevor Darby (Cornelius, N.C. / Davidson Day) has been rated as a two-star recruit by Rivals.com. Darby is a three-year team captain who has twice claimed first-team all-state accolades. As a junior he led his squad in sacks and tackles. Darby’s performance helped coach Chad Grier’s program capture three state titles and three conference crowns. Trevor is the son of former Wingate University football player Allen and Jo Ann Darby.

What happened to northeast recruiting now that we have joined the caa. We are no longer local coach. Let's get out there and recruit better young men from all over the east coast. Enlarge your target area

I totally agree with expanding our recruiting footprint. There is way too much competition for kids in the SE. Look at the team's that kicked our arses all year are filled with kids who are from the NEeast.
We have a great product to sell. A kid who is considering Maine or New Hampshire should never choose them over Elon. That goes for Stoney Brook and Towson as well.

It would help if we could show up in the Northeast without a 3-21 record. That would make things more attractive. Right now, it would be a tough sell to entice a guy to move 700 miles away from friends and family -- for a 3-21 program. When we can go up there and beat those teams, we can recruit those players.

Welcome to the Darby family!
As for "local"...I thought one of Skrosky's early press conferences was to note that he was going to take advantage of local talent. Besides, local boys may help bring more local fans...and we definitely need more butts in the bleachers. Let's not forget..Riddle, Mellette and I think Hudgins were all "local" boys (local, being in NC).

From a recruiting standpoint, it makes much more sense for Elon to try and dominate in the sate of NC & SC. There is alot of talent here in the Carolina's. The previous staff did not recruit the state well at all--I know as Im on the HS staff at Davidson Day, we put out alot of Elon caliber players the last few years and Elon rarely if ever made it to our campus. That immediately changed when Skrosky showed up. Our head coach knows alot of other HS head coaches and its the same story. Elon is making major in roads to the Carolina(s) schools.
Too many small schools with limited resources try to recruit all over the place...you have to spend alot of time developing relationships with these kids. With Trevor, he had 17 offers--many from schools in the NE who could not spend the time getting to know him. Elon recruited him the hardest, and at the end of the day thats what won him over...(Elon has a real recruiting ace in Billy Reibock BTW). Georgia Southern came in in the immediate days from signing day and tried to sign Trevor, but the fact that they had no relationship was instrumental in him staying with Elon.
I agree with the poster that said winning will help recruit kids, however truly wins and losses have a much lower impact on a kids choice of attending a school. With Trevor (and many of the incoming class) the bad record equates to early playing time and the chance to "turn things around"...which they view as a positive not a negative.
The NE kids will come in time I have no doubt. But recruiting for Elon MUST begin with locking down talent in the Carolina's, Georgia, and perhaps VA....thats my humble opinion.

Thanks, AD. Excellent example of how Skrosky's approach of recruiting the southeast can pay off. BTW, 17 offers - it must have been a busy and interesting experience.

You know-- it was really not a fun process. I thought recruiting would be a great experience. But it caused so much stress in the house... It's a big decision for a teenager to make. A lot of coaches are a lot like car salesman-- that's why a trusting relationship is so critical.
As a familly we are just glad it's over. We think Elon is a great place for our son... And he is a really good football player. I had a few ACC coaches tell me if he had been 15-20 lbs heavier he would have had multiple ACC offers. He was just a late bloomer. Grew 7 inches between his sophomore and junior year added a lot of weight but it was too late for the big boys. If you don't have a major D1 scholly locked up before your senior season it's very very difficult to get one.
Mom and Dad are thrilled and so is he.
I think this class is going to be specia-- lots of high character kids who are very good all around playersl
