First off, it's clear this game will be far more suitable than last week's. (BTW, I still think playing Wake and other ACC schools is a good thing, but perhaps in a couple years when this program returns to elite FCA status.)
Here's what I expect to see Saturday:
CC start at QB. And I don't expect to see the time-share approach. I think he'll have the whole first half to show something and then they'll evaluate at half-time. I respect DT's open honesty about not once feeling comfortable last week. Nonetheless, you can't afford constant discomfort in the QB spot. If anything, CC looked comfortable.
Receivers get separation. Against Wake, they were covered constantly. Won't happen this week. Which is a very good thing for this offense.
No sacks. The O line will be solid once more.
Improvement in the running game. I think Bennett will have 70+ yards and the team will have well over 100.
The D will remember their fundamentals because GW simply doesn't have the speed Wake does. So we will recognize the defense once again. And since the offense will sustain drives, the D will get rest and remain solid for the full 60 minutes.
Bottom line: Elon 31 GW 17.
I know, I'm an optimist.

G-W hung with USA. They do have a dual threat QB, which has always presented problems for Elon as far back as the Lembo days. If the offense can establish some time of possession though, it should be manageable for the defense.
I think early on both QBs looked shaky against WF, but would agree CC seems the best bet to start and would like to see him get the whole first half to establish some sort of rhythm. As someone else mentioned, I'd like to see the playbook open up a bit as well. I can't recall any passes between the hashes. We heard all this excitement about the tight ends in the preseason and they weren't really involved at all. WF showed how effectively a TE can be used on offense.
I won't predict a score, but these next 3 are the best opportunity for wins and all 3 of those teams performed well in week 1. We'll have an idea next weekend if the team has turned a corner and should know for sure by the end of the month.
Go Phoenix!

I was hoping to see a little more from the team versus Wake, but they have a few of the best defenders in the ACC. Though I predicted a 42-10 loss, BUT I was hoping for something along the lines of USF game a few years back.
The defense looked pretty good there for a bit, but got tired.
I would expect the game to be fairly tight this weekend, no blowout either way.
No prediction, but I'm betting the young QB was able to shake off the butterflies.

in trying to evaluate our early games it is important to see how groups are performing as opposed to individuals overall improvement is so vital in our rebuilding effort. We sorely need some improvement in all areas but special teams make us look like a well coached team. Thompson will be near his hometown on the SC border but He needs to find some targets. Wake Forest pretty much returned the D that beat Va Tech. Everyone needs to step up. Petronni was CAA Special teamer POW

The pass rush with Corey Mitchell and Rob Sullivan looked good as well. Pass blocking looked great too. I'm looking to see more from the receivers across the board as well as run blocking. I think that if we can open some holes for Bennett, Summers and Coppedge, they can make some noise as well.

Pretty quiet going into what some think is a winnable game this weekend!

Here's something - heard DT is out for a bit. So it will be CC this week.

Hope DT will be ok.
So, Skrosky is looking for separation; now is the chance for CC to do it. He looked comfortable last week, even though he surely had a ton of pressure on him (having lost the starting spot). So I think he will be pretty strong Saturday.
And finally, I'm stunned how Skrosky is playing the media game with this. If DT is out, he's known it for a while and yet he still keeps talking about swapping and everything is up in the air. Gamesmanship...

Looking forward to tonight's game, I think we are going to learn a lot more about who can play and hopefully CC can put up some good numbers against an FCS opponent. I hope i'm wrong, but I don't see us winning this one easily, and if it's close I don't like our chances since we are so inexperienced. That said, i'm going against my gut and going to optimistically predict a win...

The key will be the receivers. If they get separation and can keep hold of the ball, Elon will be fine.

I am hoping for a good game from Elon tonight. I agree with the key being the receivers getting separation and catching the ball.....I think our O line with give CC time. IF we can maintain some drives and keep our defense off the field (and GW offense).....I think our Defense will hold up fine. I saw some encouraging play by them during the WF game....just on the field too long and correctable breakdowns in the secondary. Prediction: Elon 21-14. Both Elon and A&T will be 1-1 going into our home opener next week.
