I am pointing out where the improvement is and where it is not. The spring game is not a full game. It is a controlled scrimmage, as are the summer ones, and the offense (on both sides) moved the ball. Why? As many others have pointed out, because we opened the play calling up. We also had backs and receivers who caught the ball. These things have not happened these first three games.
I am not indicating anyone should play "more", just that those that proved they can block, break away from coverage, and catch, should get a chance, and some aren't at all, even at end of lopsided games or when the position players are struggling as freshmen can and will. If these vet players had the same issues, then I wouldn't have issue with the offense. But when you see the same issues from game 1, 2014, to game three, 2015, its not progress.
All these kids are good in their own right otherwise they wouldn't be playing at this level. Its just that some have had 2-3 years of experience with two staffs to learn technique to use against this competition.
Right now mixing in vets with the freshmen probably would help all and yes, maybe get us to 3, 4 or 5 wins, something we haven't seen in a while. We are not going to win many games averaging 10pts. If there was progress or at least signs of it, I would be fine with tempered expectations, but when we are dealing with same issues as last season, well, you get my point. As for Homer's follow up comments, yes we don't know you and you don't know us or Skrosky, we are all looking at the same body of work; however some of us can read into the actions and results a little deeper it seems. I hope we are wrong, and that the progress is substantial by seasons end, but there were these same comments last year and season ended and we are now three games in and....our defense has done its job...

All right, FF. I'll concede your point on 14 but not 20. Not sure why 14 is limited right now.
Look, the bottom line is that you're saying a D1 coach is losing games on purpose by playing inferior personnel. Frankly, that notion astounds me. It is simply something I can't even imagine.
I know Skrosky is incredibly detail oriented. I've seen it firsthand. He's well organized; we've all seen that in his practices. He didn't forget how to craft a decent offense.
We all have questions. Only those on the inside know the answers. For me, I'm willing to give Skrosky a major benefit of the doubt.
I see great potential in CC. And that position is where everything starts on offense. I know he's frustrated with the impotence of the offense, too. The Times News story spells that out clearly. So you aren't nearly alone in frustration.
The running game stuck in mud and flightless receivers confounds me. I have no idea what the solution is. I'm trusting this coaching staff, which has been on the job for about 20 months, to figure it out.

We played really bad teams the past 2 weeks. Don't forget that we have only scored 17 points over 3 games during regulation time. The lone win may have happened in boiling springs. If yes, 2 years and 2 wins is unprecedented. Young team or not. Change will need to happen. Time for the uninformed optimism to dissipate.
When the WRs get open and that's rare CC overthrows them by 10+ yards (happened 3 times vs NCAT). The OL is not good. No holes for the running backs to run thru and CC was rushed a good bit the past 2 games. If he didnt have the legs the sacks would be way up. Kudos to him for being mobile. Pray he doesn't get hurt. We rarely throw to our TEs, why? Simple 5 yard throws. Build confidence, a few first downs and rest our defense. The play calling is a head scratcher and the games are brutally painful to watch.
This is all about coaching, nothing more or less. The coaches decide who plays and what plays get called. Granted they dont execute but they teach. They have been with this program for 21 months. Either they cant teach or they cant pick the right talent to play. Neither is excusable. If any of us delivered these results in the "real world" , we would be fired in a nano second.
Be interesting to view the win loss record for skrosky, wrobo and petercuskie for their entire career. Wonder how that looks on paper? Hmmmmm? Maybe they dont know how to win.

You think we have issues on offense, did you see the Colts last night? Yikes!

homer.. No kidding. Between them and the eagles it is really painful to watch.
I hope our coaches put our players in a position to win this week. Use the TEs and lets be a bit more versatile on the offense. 5 to 8 yard chunks at a time.
Thank goodness for our D.
After Stony Brook hammered New Hmapshire anything can happen.

KTF - you hit the nail on the head. I don't think the players have been in a position to win in years. Since Lembo left.
