No posts cause I couldn't take my eyes off the game!! CONGRATULATIONS ELON! CONGRATULATIONS COACH SKROSKY! The difference between tonight and the other three games was execution. The team made very few mistakes. The OL, especially Morris and Udoh were outstanding. Summers was a beast. he read the WM D, followed his blocks and made the right cut at the right time. Also hats off to the DC and the Defense. They were ready and very tough. I'm really happy for the boys. Maybe this is the start of something big?!

Here is a big note W&M's only TD was of a huge play that broke for multiple yards. Until the last drive of the game they never made it into the Red Zone and when they did they throw a Int Good point. We didn't just beat a top 10 nationally ranked team, we were in in control just about the entire game. Although I did have my doubts after that long slant, we stepped up big time last night. Now we need to carry that momentum forward.

Great win! I think this is the kind of competitiveness we were all expecting this year. Have to keep the momentum going next week. Should have a chance to win over a lot of new Elon fans.
Go Phoenix!

A few things......
1. This was the best I have seen an Elon defense play in years. Brilliant job! Aside from 1 play (77 yard slant to Dedmon), they were in control of this game from the outset. 2. Special teams: Lights out 3. The offense: the 3rd quarter drive was the most impressive I've seen by the team this year. Way to quiet the crowd! 4. With all of the injuries to starters, it's amazing to watch the team pull together. 5. Dedmon for W&M, man that guy is a play maker. They need to do everything possible to get the ball in his hands.
I think this is what we were expecting this year. From energy to overall execution, this looked like a totally different team than what we saw against GWU. Keep this momentum going!!!!
BTW.....if any W&M fans are reading, I didn't attend the game, but watched it. Your newly renovated stadium looks stellar!

Defense and special teams looked on point. Our D was swarming.
The OL looked awesome in pass protection and better with the run than in the past. When we trapped or pulled we seemed to at least set up a 3 to 5 yard gain. if Malcom has the smallest of seams he's good for 6-7 or more.
DT seems to do play action much better than pocket/down field passing. His arm isn't quite strong enough to get the ball to Taylor on a go route. DT had 1 interception, which worked like a punt, except it was on 3rd down, so really no harm done, but it still would've been nicer to see a reception.
We did an excellent job of keeping our D off the field and wearing their D out in the 2nd half. It's really amazing what a few 1st downs can do.
This is how we started when Lembo was here. we just started by sneaking up on a few people. Hopefully, we'll catch a few more unaware.
Geaux Phoenix!!

That was a complete effort on Saturday night! We were outmatched on talent, but we executed better and earned the win -- kudos to the coaches for setting a solid game plan and the players for executing it. At this stage in the program's growth, for Elon to win against the upper tier teams in the CAA, they need to out-execute the opponent. Couldn't be happier to see Skrosky and the team earn their first signature win as a member of the CAA. It's amazing how a little success can breed confidence in a team -- heading back home for three tough games, it would be great to see if we can steal another win (or two). A win against a ranked Villanova team on Saturday and Elon probably cracks the top-25! Wouldn't that be something!? Nothing you all haven't already read, but if you want to relish in the victory a bit more, there's a recap on the blog... Phoenix secure signature CAA victory over #8 William & Mary: bit.ly/2cNQf3j
