Joel Justus is someone I think would be a great option for Elon. Played at UNCW for four years and was an assistant at Elon from 2004-2008 and now is an assistant at Kentucky. Young guy who should be looking for his first HC job

Would love to hear they reached out to Andrew Toole or Ty Baumgardner.

this will be a total reconstruction of the program and should be considered a long term deal, BUT Elon needs to win and like a Cignetti or Charlotte Smith hires the culture has to change and the HC has to be a Face the world should know by their resume' cannot wait for the hire of a Phil so We can start the thread, "Phil in the BLANK!

For all of you that say "who cares if he is a nice guy..or represented Elon well". There is a guy out there who would instantly raise Elon to one of the 2 or 3 best mid-major programs in America..and could perhaps even turn Elon into a national contender. His name is Rick Pitino..and he would 100% take the job.
Still feel character doesn't matter? How bad do you want to win and fill the Schar Center?? Because hiring the second assistant from UCONN or Wake Forest ain't going to get it done...

We're looking for a young assistant at a mid-major or a head coach from D2 (my preference would be the former, someone who played P5 ball a la Wes Miller would be great).

Would love to hear they reached out to Andrew Toole or Ty Baumgardner. What has Andrew Toole done in the last 5 years? Who is the other guy? Is he a HS coach? Not saying we are a great destination but I am not down with either option.

Wes Miller (who I don’t think had a helluva lot of coaching experience before getting the UNCG gig) has done an AMAZING job there. They were the last team out according to the committee chair. Re-read that: UNCG would have made the tournament as an AT LARGE if Oregon didn’t win the Pac12

For those thinking about Miller, think again. Wake Forest has some big boosters eyeing him to take Danny Manning's job.

Here’s a name that will likely come from off the radar... Blaine Taylor’s former Old Dominion head coach. His tenure at ODU ended with some off the court personal issues, but looks like he has resurfaced out west without Cal-Irvine as an assistant. They’re a 13 seed with 30 wins.
Wiki shows his record as 380-210 as a HC, and he’s taken teams to the big dance 5 times. Has familiarity with east coast and the south from ODU time, and was a TV analyst during his time away from coaching. He’s known for having a dynamic personality off the court and having tough, defense oriented teams on it. I think he could build a proven winner and make Burlington home.
